(CNN) -- Tammy Faye Messner, the former televangelist and Christian singer who battled drug addiction and later inoperable cancer, died Friday morning, CNN's Larry King said Saturday night. He said the family had asked him to make the delayed announcement.

She had a really tough last couple of months, if not years. I'm glad that she's at peace.

I grew up with her kids. She and Jim carried me around when I was little. I didn't know.. thank you.

Just a few days agao I saw a clip of her talking about her illness and how she didn't want to know how long she had. She looked so thin & frail... I'm glad it's over for her and she is at peace.

I saw her on Larry King Thursday night, and she looked terrilbe. I could only see the footage, not hear it, and she looked so much like my mom did at the end, I knew she didn't have long. My heart breaks for her family. The article says she died peacefully, I hope so. I know what the end was like for my mom, and it breaks my heart for them. I am glad she is in heaven and at peace now.
