A few nights ago the kids and I had a discussion and created some house rules. We went over what they all meant and did some roll playing to show examples of the best way to handle situations.
Anyway, one of our rules is "Everyone cleans up their own messes" and we talked about how if we all put things away as soon as we are done with them, when it comes time to do our chores, they will go a lot faster.
Haley came to me a few minutes ago and said "Mom, we need to talk about one of our rules... You know how it says "Everyone cleans up their own messes"?, well you made a pizza last night and left everything on the counter and because the kitchen is my chore, I had to put everything away".
I was actually proud of her for saying something and it made me realizes that I have to be an example for my kids... If I can't follow the rules, how can I expect them to?

It's kinda cute that she said something to you about it though.
