At least three people were killed when an interstate bridge in Minneapolis, Minnesota, collapsed Wednesday evening, plunging cars and chunks of concrete into the Mississippi River below.

That is so tragic! CNN was saying this morning there are 7 confirmed dead, 62 injured and at least 20 people missing. We (me and my coworkers) know people up in that area and hopefully they are ok. One of our suppliers is in Minneapolis.

My prayers go out to the families who were affected by this.

I am praying for them all.

And I've been told all my life it was silly to be afraid of bridges.

Shona - I am so afraid of them too - When we went to NY I was almost in tears going over some of them and Kev kept giving me a hard time. This sure isn't gonna make bridges any easier.

I'm terrified of bridges too! We've gone over this bridge a few times. The worst one was the one from Detroit into Canada though. I basically hide on the floor while Mike drives like a mad man.

After the Hoan Bridge in Milwaukee had something like this almost happen I got much much worse. We also have a very long stretch of high rise that's in the middle of construction right now. I take surface streets whenever possible to get around that one.

I feel awful - I just heard about this this morning. I started reading about it on msnbc site and i bawled for half an hour. One guy they talked to, his fiancee was on the bridge. He said they were on the phone when she said " Oh god, the bridge i'm on is collapsing..." and he hasn't heard anything about her since. How horrible that must feel, not knowing. My heart is just breaking for these people....

My heart felt sympathies go out to all those touched by the tragedy. I could not believe it when I heard about it on the news last night. THe worst part is that, as of now, they have no idea at all why it collapsed. It passed inspection a couple of years ago and was just undergoing minor repairs
