Breast pumps

I am really thinking that I will try to breastfeed this baby longer than I did Jonathan. He just wouldn't latch on, and I couldn't afford a good pump, so we used formula except for what tiny bit I could get him to nurse or pump with a manual.

Today I found an Ameda Purely Yours double pump at a resale place. It looks like the bottles have been used, but all the other parts of the pump are still in the the plastic. I don't think the actual pump was used at all.

If you had a pump, what kind did you have? Did you like it or not?

I've heard good things about that brand. I have had the best luck with Medela pumps, but never had the extra money to buy a really nice one(just the manual ones). This time I bought the Medela Swing pump. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I'll let you know how it goes soon.

I agree about the Medela...that's the kind they gave me at the hospital. It was the only one that actually worked. I think I bought an Evenflo one and it didn't work at all!

I'm also wanting to breastfeed for at least 6 months with this baby. My first son didn't latch on correctly.

I used a Medela Pump In Style Advanced and liked it a lot (2 actually, I left one at work). My hospital gives you new bottles, tubes and shields for the PIS when you have the baby. You can use them with the hospital pump while you're there and then at home later. Why don't you call your hospital and see if they do something like that and then you might want to go with the Medela. Also with Medela you can use the shields with the manual pump--I never liked those but would keep it it my car for emergencies.
