School Lunches

Okay, writing my post made me wonder what everyone else does for lunches.

Do your kids buy lunch at school or bring lunch from home?

If they buy lunch do you like the lunches your school serves?

If they bring lunch what types of foods do they like?

I'm just curious what areas are serving good lunches and also looking for ideas for Tessa's lunch box when she starts to get bored.

This is Alyssa's first year for lunch We will probably do a bit of both - home & school. Porbably home on days they have cheeseburgers and such.

My kids buy their lunch at school. I for the most part, am happy with what they serve. The kids of course, like pizza and taquito days best.

Our kids school does not serve lunch. So I pack them a lunch everyday. A bologna sandwich, yogurt tube, cheese stick and apple or banana. Also our kids cant come home for lunch. It has to be either they stay everyday or go home everyday, not a little of both.

Austin typically buys lunch at school everyday.

Im not completely satisfied with school lunches around here, just because the budget isn't the greatest.

Austin's favorite are chicken sandwhiches, pizza, and taco days

My boys are picky, they only buy lunch on pizza days. Otherwise, ham or pb sandwiches, pringles, apple slices or applesauce and yogurt for Aaron.

Olivia's school doesn't have a cafeteria, but she has access to a microwave, so chicken nuggets, leftovers from dinner, ham sandwiches, bagel bites, fried bologna and fruit and yougurt for her.

THe two high schoolers eat at school everyday .. the school lunches are good .. they have a pizza line, salad line, sub sandwich line, veggie line and then another line that changes everyday. They have a good selection of drinks available too.

The elementary school lunch is nice too .. they serve salad everyday, a sandwich of the day, a veggie line and then a hot meal line. Kale probably buys once a week on average. He usually takes PB & J sandwiches, pizza rolls, a salad, chicken dunks or a lunchable.

Zachariah always brought his lunch (obviously in daycare) but his new magnet school provides free breakfast and lunch. I'm leary about letting him get it but all the other kids will be eating it so I'm going to let him try it for a week or so and see if he's eating. If not, I'll pack it--sandwich, fruit, yogurt, cookie or crackers. He also likes salad, or leftovers in a thermos. They will not heat food up so it has to either be kept cool or kept warm in a thermos.

Noah gets the same stuff I'd send for Zach. I send him breakfast and lunch and they won't heat his either. They only prepare food in the infant room and Noah is going back in the toddler room on Monday. I prepare his breakfast for him when I drop him off so some days he gets hot (pancakes, french toast, eggs, oatmeal) and some days cereal, granola, yogurt and fruit.

We don't have hot lunch at our school, (small private christian school) so I pack a lunch every day.

Darien takes Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches and sometime Chicken Nuggets. (They have a microwave to warm thing up)
