This is a bit much.....

Ok, I was visiting a friend over the weekend and I met her neighbor and her kids. Nice people and all, but I thought this was bit much.... The child is five and a half years old, ok.....He still drinks from only a bottle ( baby bottle! ), nurses, and sleeps in a crib. I've known people who breastfed up to 2 years old, But still nursing at five and a half? Isn't that a little much? I can kinda understand the crib thing - maybe he moves around and falls out of bed alot... but a bottle and nursing at almost six years old, seems very excessive..... what do you ladies think?

Wow. Our ped told us to get DS off the bottle at about 15 months... 5 years??!?

unless there's a special need sounds like the child is controlling the parents!

OMG that is sad THere is no way that child should still be on a bottle....and I know that some people do still nurse when their kids ar that old....BUT IMO, that is totally inappropriate

Sounds like the parents need a little kick in the pants from their Ped. They have issues.
There is NO WAY that child should still be on a bottle. Lauren and Ry were both off by a year. And for BF that long.... sorry... that's just wrong. If a child can eat and drink sufficiently and proficiently on their own, there is just no reason. Sorry, just MHO.....

You ladies said it. Mine were off bottles well before a year. Crib? Ok, but with the bottles and nursing it's also weird. What's even stranger is that you just met these people and she told you all this? None of those things are anything I'd be sharing with people. My ped would flip over any of those.

It sounds to me like one of those cases where the parents didn't want to take away comfort items when he was still young and before they realized it, the kid was old enough to demand them. If that is the case... put your d@mn foot down and be the parent for God's sake!
