Preschool for 3 y/o

Ok..... just wanted to check in with everyone....

Did you send your 3 y/o to "preschool"?

I have an opportunity to send Lauren to preschool for 2 - 1/2 days (actually 8-11 am)/wk through the school that she will attend when she gets older. I'm thinking it would be a good way to introduce her to the school and other children and a more strictly structured
environment. They play, do simple crafts & learning, etc....... I'm just looking everything over and it sounds perfect for her. She wouldn't be able to start until November (her birthday is Oct. 26th) and we are trying to get this potty training thing mastered. (Yeah, RIGHT!)
I guess I just want to make sure I'm not rushing her.

I guess I just have to look at it as a new challenge (with Mom not far away) for Lauren and more time to work with Ryan.

What did you all do?

I will and have.

I sent Alyssa and it was wonderful! She learned her ABC's (I was slacking back then ) and simple math adn did lots of crafty things. I will send Kate next year (here you have to be 3 by Spet 1st - and it gives me extra potty training time )

Alyssa was NOT fully potty trained when I sent her - BUT I knew she could stay dry for the 2 hours she was at school. (12:30-2:30) and we worked from there. within a month or so we ended up being fully potty trained. (with an occasional poopy accident for a few months)

I sent Jimmy year 3 and 4 to the same school, he did very well he also needed the extra structure. I will do the same with Jaedyn.

I have sent all three of mine at 2 1/2 years old actually. And it was great for them, they socialized and I'm sure it helped the transition to full day Kinder much easier too.

We sent Jonathan at about 3 1/2. I probably wouldn't have if we hadn't noticed him having problems. But it definitely did make a difference. If it's only a couple of hours a day, then I would go for it. It would probably be fun for her to be around kids her own age and do some new things. You can always try it. If it doesn't work out, then you have the option to stop.

Tessa didn't go to preschool, except for a few months. It was just her and I then, so I had tons of time to teach her and play and stuff.

Sammie started when she was 3 1/2 and loves it still.
Karah is 2 1/2 and will be starting German Kindergarten with Sammie this coming week (which is similar to American Preschool)... so obviously I think it's a good idea.

Logan isn't going and i don't think he will. in my opinion, they are only kids for such a short time, i want him to just play and have fun while he can, soon enough he will be in school all day and be doing homework.

my dad has beaten this into me all my life and i truly believe it now. I know i am a minority though. It could also be a small town thing as well, most people i know don't have their kids in preschool before kinder

Aaron went two mornings a week when he was 3. He loved it. He potty trained the week before it started, but I think there was one girl who was still in pull ups during that time. Generally they tell you that they have to be potty trained.

Its a good idea IMO. Zach started his preK program today. He is there everyday for the school day. His is at a magnet school and is an awesome program. He did great and had a wonderful time. Is already asking when he can go back. Of course, he was at a private daycare/preschool program 2-3 days a week since he was about 15 months old (summers and school vacations home with me). Zach is potty trained though with no accidents. However, I wasn't sure he'd be trained by the time school started and I was going to do like Karen did.

Nicole started this last Tuesday, and she LOVES it. Seriously, when I go to pick her up, she tells me she doesn't want to come home and that I make her angry by trying to take her home LOL.

Nick is almost 4 but I'm not sending him to preschool this year. He starts school a year late(October birthday), so I'm sending him next year.
