Liz, I need to get you another box of books!

I haven't had time to pick up a book in weeks!

Liz, if you like Sophie Kinsella, you will like Jennifer Weiner. She wrote the book In Her Shoes, which became a movie.
I just read her book, Good in Bed and it is GREAT. She has a collection of short stories out, which I am in the process of reading. The title is The Guy Not Taken, which is the title of one of the short stories in the book. I highly recommend checking out her books.
Another great author is Cassandra King. The Same Sweet Girls and The Sunday Wife are two of her books that are great. She has another book out titled Making Waves, which I just read in June, but it was not as good as her later work. She also has a new book out that I have not read yet, but I will soon--it is The Queen of Broken Hearts.
I also have been on an Amy Tan kick lately. Her collection of short stories, The Opposite of Fate, a Book of Musings is SO GOOD! I also recently read her book The Kitchen God's Wife, which is just fabulous.
You also might want to check out Rebecca Wells--she wrote Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. (By the way, even if you have seen the movie, you could still read the book--the movie and the book are so different--and the book was excellent--there are parts that are laugh out loud funny.) These same characters can be found in her other books Ya Yas in Bloom and Little Altars Everywhere.
Okay, and one last suggestion for you--have you read any of the Sweet Potato Queen books by Jill Connor Browne? These books are great--funny, real, and easy to read. http://www.sweetpotatoqueens.com/ord...b6e2ce19add32c

Tried to edit, ended up with a new post , so here's what I wanted to add:
In case you aren't sure who Amy Tan is, she wrote The Joy Luck Club, which is another collection of short stories that was made into a movie.
Alisa Valdes Rodriguez is another good author that I stumbled onto. I read her book The Dirty Girls' Social Club last year, and it is great. She has a couple other books out, too.
This probably will seem odd, but don't disregard the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series. I read it because it was recommended to me, and the books are great. The author, Ann Brashares, has another book out now, The Last Summer (of You and Me) , but I have not read it yet.
Hopefully those suggestions will help. I love reading, can you tell?

The Last Summer of You and Me was really good. I'll add it to the box, Liz. Billy loves that I send you books, he can't stand my stacks of books all over the house.

Tammy... sounds like we like the same type of books... I will have to look at the Dirty Girls Social Club, and the sweet potato ones. I have read the others that you posted.

Love, love, love Same Sweet Girls! I miss reading... I don't have time to read for fun right now, too much school work...
Math is killing me!

I'm lucky to have time to do Sudoku puzzles while I am on the potty.

It does get better, Liz. Try it again. I remember having a hard time getting into it, but I stuck with it. Check out the other books I recommended.
Amy Tan's books are great, too--hard to put down.

Re: Read anything good lately?

I'd recommend Love in the Time of Cholera or Like Water for Chocolate if you want love stories.

Read both of those, too. I thought Love in the Time of Cholera was very good, but Like Water for Chocolate was too sad for me. Both are really deep, though, so if you are looking for light reading, these are not the books for you.

So I just finished Eldest and I'm about to start Bresingr.

I absolutely love the Outlander series.

My dad has those on audio tape - he does a lot of long-distance driving, and listens to those while he drives. He says they're awesome.

I've done an amazing amount of reading in the last 3 months! I've finished two Anne Bishop trilogies:

- The Dark Jewels trilogy: Daughter of the Blood, Heir to the Shadows, and Queen of the Darkness
- The Tir Alainn trilogy: Pillars of the World, Shadows and Light, and The House of Gaian

There are also three other books that go along with the Dark Jewels trilogy (not part of the series, but set with the same characters in the same environment): Dreams Made Flesh (3 short stories that fill in some gaps in the trilogy), Tangled Webs, and The Invisible Ring. All very good.

The Dark Jewels trilogy was better than the Tir Alainn trilogy, IMO, but both were good reads.

Then there's the first four books of the Nightrunner series by Lynn Flewelling: Luck in the Shadows, Stalking Darkness, Traitor's Moon, and Shadows Return. I can't wait for the fifth book to come out later this year - I'm SO hooked! The type of book you simply can't put down.

Re: Read anything good lately?

I've been reading Big Science, Science and the Cold War, and But it was fun: the first forty years of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory at Green Bank. Not exactly light reading, but it will be worth it when I finish my thesis!

Re: Read anything good lately?

Redwall by Brian Jacques. Technically, it's a children's story, but the characters are very well written. I mainly read it to see if it would be appropriate for me to read to Jared. It's the first in the Redwall series.

Also read The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. Enjoyed it, but not quite as much as I did Angels and Demons and the DaVinci Code.
