I love my coffee but...

I think it is causing the intense cramping and repeated trips to the bathroom every morning that I have been experiencing.
Does anyone else notice that coffee seems to work as an instant laxative for them? or that it causes stomach discomfort?

I haven't been willing to give it up so I've lived with the situation for over a year now.

My gastroenterologist told me this, he is having me not drink it for the entire month. I want to die.

Dana ... I'm really misserable for a period of time in the morning and I KNOW the coffee is causing it... I'm not willing to give it up though. How bad is that? I just enjoy my coffee too much.

Elaine... Yep that's a side effect of Coffee. Part of the reason why I am supposed to limit my intake. I make my coffee half caf and stick to two cups a day. No more than that... doesn't bother me this way.

Yeah coffee gives me the craps...if I'm feeling especially backed up I go straight for it!

Yup coffee is a natural laxative. Mike drinks it to keep him regular

I do experience some of this, but I am like you, Elaine, definitely not willing to give up coffee.
I like Heather's half caf idea!

I had to stop drinking coffee about a year ago.

It causes some really bad pain in my stomach. Every once in a while I'm okay, but when I drink it daily it kills me.

I just started drinking coffee on a daily basis last spring...large DD iced coffee every morning. It did that to me for awhile but then the intensity wore off. I just assumed my body got used to it. ??

There are coffee alternatives that you can get at the health food store. I have tried one kind and it wasn't bad. Not exactly like coffee but that is probably as close as it gets. Is Sanka coffee? I can't remember.
