Hi everyone! I was gone for a bit but I am back and pleased to announce the birth of my beautiful baby girl, Alie Anne. She was born on Dec 6th and it's not too much of a story.
I had a scheduled c-section. My surgery was scheduled at 9 am and I had to be there a little early for registration and such. So we arrived at 7:30 am. I was very amazed and impressed at how quickly the staff got me settled in and prepped. I was actually taken into surgery a half hour early, and at 9:09 am our little girl arrived. Eric was absolutely amazed, and I was rather surprised that the let him watch the surgery around the curtain. When I had the boys, my support person was not allowed to watch and had to stay behind the curtain. This time they actually adjusted the curtain so it would still block my view, yet allow Eric to see while still staying right by my head for support. I thought that was cool of them to do, and Eric, while not thrilled with seeing me cut open, was ecstatic at being able to watch her arrival. She weighed in 5 lbs 7oz ( just a tiny little peanut) and 19 inches long. We weren't even close to having a name picked out until we got to the recovery room. As we started to talk about names, Eric suggested Alie, and as soon as he said it, her eyes opened wide and she gave a little cry...That's how we knew that was the one. Alie is pronounced like Ali, but Eric wanted to give a unique twist, hence the unusual spelling. My recovery has been very quick and actually enjoyable. I was able to nurse her right away, and so far breastfeeding has been a dream.
Speaking of feeding, my little sweetheart is waking up and will be ready to eat.....
