Let's face it... No child is a perfect angel and No mother can always keep her cool.

When Haley was 5 we got a rental car to drive to DC for the weekend. It was the day we were to return the car and Haley... my dear child ...was playing outside. I went to peek out the door and check on her and noticed she was squatting down next to the car and looked quite involved with whatever she was doing. Out of curiosity, I went outside. As soon as Haley saw me, she jumped like she knew what she was doing was wrong. She had taken a rock and drew a rather large picture on the front panel of the rental car! I marched her inside and handed her over to her father before going back out to see what I could do. I was in panic mode... I tried washing the car to see if it was mainly just rock dust that the picture was made of. Nope! The beautiful flower and sunshine stood out even more after being washed so I ran to the auto part store and picked up some stuff that was supposed to fill scratches and applied that... still looked bad. I ended up returning the car as late in the day as possible and parking the "picture" away from the light. They went out to inspect the car and my heart was pounding. They never saw and said anything though and I was free to go. Never heard a word from them. When I got home Haley was shrieking and Mike had made her help throw away all her coloring supplies and pack all her toys away in boxes. She lived in a room with nothing more than a bed and dresser for a few weeks before slowly being allowed a few toys at a time.

Not long after we bought this house, I went out for the day shopping with some girl friends. Rick and Bill were supposed to be watching Drew and Ally. I got home about 4 PM, walked in the front door and turned towards the stairs. I was greeted by a 2 ft smiley face drawn in RED permanent marker. That was followed by 2 smaller ones further up the stair case. I was livid - at Ally AND at the guys since obviously they weren't watching her! It took 7 coats of Kilz to cover the marker before we could finally paint the wall again.

It was another 5 days before I discovered the smiley faces behind Drew's bedroom door and in her closet. Needless to say, all of the markers were hidden after that and the guys got an earful!

Last winter , my in laws went on vacation, and I was using my MIL car while my van was getting worked on. It was a sunday and I had to work. I took Erics truck and left him the car in case he needed to go anywhere with the kids. When I came home, I was super impressed to see that the boys had shoveled the walkway and driveway ( they were 4 and 5 at the time - have their very own little snowshovels cuz they like to help) they even shoveled half the yard. Then I realized where they dumped all the snow they'd shoveled. Where my MILs car should be, was a huge pile of snow. They had buried.Obviously Eric hadn't looked out in a bit. He was watching a football game (rabid Steelers fan). I could've killed him - made him go dig the car out...
