Ally's elementary does what they call a "Spring Party". Everyone takes in Valentine's and puts them in boxes they have decorated. This year they have asked us to decorate the boxes at home - when I was a kid, that was part of the party! Then they have a little party. They whole thing lasts about 45 minutes. Seems like kids these days gets gypped compared to what we had when we were kids.

Alyssa will have a party on Thurday. I think they are decorating their boxes in art class? We bought Valentine's this year. Last year I made each of the kids (she's in a class of 8 ) a small bag and we filled it with a coloring book and some other little things.

We are not allowed to give out anything but a small piece of candy taped to the Valentine. They are worried about one class getting more/better stuff than the others in the same grade. How stupid is that? I bought some cute little stationery sets last year on clearance for $0.25 each and wanted to give them to the kids in Ally's kindergarten class on the last day of school, but they wouldn't let me. Said it wasn't fair to the other kids in kindergarten if they ALL didn't get the same thing. Phooey!

Well see Alyssa's class is the only class. She's in a class (this year) with 1st & 2nd graders. and total there are 19 kids. I'm *thinking* about making something for the girls. but I'm not sure about the boys. I feel bad doing something for the irls and not the boys. and my thing for the girls is NOT something for boys.

Tessa's class is having a party with valentine's and food. I was laughing... there is a form to say what snack you are bringing. Tessa doesn't want cupcakes, cookies etc... She wants me to make Turkey and cheese pinwheels (turkey with cream cheese in the middle rolled up) to take. I even arranged for the other girls to go to hourly care so I can go to the party if Tessa wants me to.

Kale is getting goody bags from the entire class and handing out cards .. we are only allowed to send in something if we send in one for each child .. which is a great idea!

PJ and Emmie are having Valentine themed activities all week.
They are going to decorate paper bags in Art, in Religion the theme is expressing love, and Montessori class is another Valentine activity, but I can't remember what it is right now. Thursday they will hand out their Valentines and treat bags in their Homeroom.

We pass out Valentine's cards. With the new wellness laws at the school we aren't allowed to do candy. I'm a room mother so we are having a party with a bunch of activities.

The boys' are having a ice cream sundae party and they pass out Valentines then. Olivia's montessori is having a canned food drive. I kid you not. I'm thinking about pulling her out and taking her to the boys' school after making our "donation". I can't wait til she's at the boys' school next year!

Lauren's class has a "Friendship" Party tomorrow. We made a mailbox for her valentines and she "signed" her valentines. They will have party snacks too.
