Ok got a question why do most ob/gyns oppose VBACS (Vaginal birth after Cesarean)? And secondly has any one who had a C-section had a VBAC and if so how did it turn out? Because I had my first two babies vaginally and the twins were an emergancy C-Section and to be honast guys I am afraid to go through another C-Section again because of the unbearable pain i experianced with it...so thats why i wanted another vaginal birth and also someone once told me if u have a C-section then u havent experianced childbirth and it is Not the same as a natural and that a person is less of a woman if she cant go natural so that comment is also inbedded in my head as well.

i think it depends on your OB/GYN on vbacs, most will allow you to try vaginal delivery, around here anyhow. peronally i have one child, and he was a section, and my dr said i would most likely have a section again. i didnt' opopose because my recovery was wonderful. I miscarried though so i never found out which way i would go.

good luck finding someone that will allow you to do a vbac, it i your decision not theirs

I don't know who told you this, but I would love to meet them in person. I have a whole lot to say to him/her that I cannot post on these boards. Some people are SO IGNORANT!
Please get these ridiculous and outdated ideas out of your head. Whoever said that to you is so beyond wrong.
Second of all, when I was pregnant with my second child, my OB and I discussed VBAC, and it is very risky. Your uterus can rupture during a VBAC, which puts you and your baby at tremendous risk. He didn't recommend it, and to me it was not worth the risk. My goal was to have a healthy baby. I didn't have anything to prove to myself or anyone else by trying to have a vaginal birth. It's not so much HOW your baby gets here (vaginally, c-section, or adoption) it's the kind of mom you are that proves your womanhood, IMO.
I was very sore after my first c-section, but after the second one, I was not as sore. I moved around and was up and about a lot more, but I also knew my limits and didn't overdo it.
I would encourage you to talk to your OB about VBAC and about the pain you had with your first c-section.

I bill for an obgyn practice. We have a smaller hosp and the md staff is usually on call docs. The hosp has to have a waiting or ready to go fully staffed when a vbac is in process. The smaller hosp just cant afford to do that. Also the malpractice alone is high. Now down in Albany NY with a larger teaching hosp they do vbacs.

good point Becky, that makes sense on why they would reccommend a section second time around

My first was vaginal, second c-section and third VBAC. I was told the risks of uterine rupture and had all the facts going into my third delivery. I had no problems, baby was born with no problems. Talk to your doctor as some won't do VBACs due to malpratice suits and some hospitals won't do them either for same reason. If your doctor will do them and you feel confident with them delivering your child and being able to handle anything that arises, and you feel confident about a VBAC, go for it. You'll be amazed at what your body can do.
