We are going to rent the reception room here at our apartments and invite about 12 children. He will be having a Pirate themed party which seems to be his thing right now. I ordered a few things off of Orientaltradingcompany.com for decorations and favors. I bought fishing net to drape some areas of the walls, as well as a large pirate flag that says "Happy Birthday Zach". I also plan to make some centerpieces using large flat vases that I already own... I'll fill them with sand, a small treasure chest filled with chocolate coins and ring pops, and a few shells & sand dollars. I got pirate hat shaped party hats as well as an eye patch for every child.
We will be doing an activity "make your own treasure map" ...another thing purchased online. They come with blank maps and lots of stickers and markers to do your own decorating.
The goody bags will be plastic cups with a skull and crossbones filled with their eye patches, chocolate coins, gummy skulls, and mini spy glasses.
The most insane part of all is the cake that I plan on making. I found it on FamilyFun.com and while it seems simple enough, I am NOT good with this kind of thing.
