Medical Alert Jewelry Recommendation

I am planning a trip in a couple of weeks without DS and DH, and with all my medical weirdness, I was wondering what would be most effective in terms of a medical alert bracelet or something, should something happen with me while I'm away. It's not like I can engrave all my medications onto something, along with medical history info, etc., you know? Here's the kicker - I won't be carrying a purse most of the time, so it has to be something I can either wear as jewelry, or pin inobtrusively to the inside of my jacket or blouse where it can still be found in an emergency.

Many years ago, I had an SOS pendant like one of these: http://www.medicaltags.co.uk/sos-talisman.html . I'd like to get something similar, in gold-tone if possible. I just can't believe the only place I can find those is in the UK (even on eBay!).

Any suggestions? I've considered putting information on one of those flash drives and sticking it in my pocket, too - would that be at all helpful?

Yep, it's a good idea to have at least something stating multiple health issues, allergies, contact

One of the flash drives could be a good thing too, but I don't know how many rigs (ambulances) have anything to access it, KWIM?

I'll have to do more research on things and get back to you. Right now I just finished one of my assignments for class & I'm pretty brain dead.....

Road ID has interactive and regular IDs for medical information that you can put on your shoe, ankle, wrist etc. www.roadid.com

I *will* have a purse at the hotel, but I won't be carrying it. I might, however, be able to pin something to the inside of my jacket or something. I won't be alone - just not with DS and DH. I can make sure the ladies I'm with know where to find my information, too.

I'm just being paranoid.

I had a simple silver bracelet (looked like an name bracelet) that had the red cross and said "I'm a Duke patient ID AJ**** and had their phone number. It was much simpler than trying to list any specifics.

Re: Medical Alert Jewelry Recommendation

I have a medical bracelet which has:

My name
Steve, his cell phone number
Blood Thinner
Pulmonary Embolism
my blood type

I also carry a card with me that has my prescriptions on it (name, how much in mg, and how often I take it).

It is a good thing to have. I'm like Liz...I have to have my purse with me I feel lost without my purse.

Re: Medical Alert Jewelry Recommendation

I used to carry a piece of paper with mine and the kids names on it. It had their DOB and any currect prescriotions they were taking. Mine had the same thing and listed the meds I am allergic to. Rick has one in his wallet (he refuse to wear the braclet) saying he is a diabetic and takes **** and has high bllod pressure and takes ****, plus the dosages and how often he has to have them. It also lists me as his contact and hi smom as backup and the numbers to reach us. I figure this way is better than nothing, since he won't wear the bracelet. Of course I won't wear one either becasue the silver ones are ugly (I don't wear silver anyway) and I can't afford the gold ones! But at least my med allergies are on the paper in my purse right behind my drivers license where they are sure to see it.
