I have went to a different grocery store cause I figured out I spend ALOT less than when I go to walmart. Staying home instead of going places and cooking at home instead of eating out.

We have been eating ina dn staying home more.
I also got a jug from work and have been putting my change in there nightly.

Well, DH has had to eat out with clients a lot this month, so I haven't had to feed him. That saved us a small fortune.

Seriously, though...

We've been doing a lot of our shopping at Aldi's lately, and that has saved us a lot on canned goods and frozen food. For other things, we've really been watching the ads and only buying things that were on sale. I've used a lot of coupons, plus I've stumbled upon a ton of really good sales and was able to pair up the sales with coupons and stock up on diapers and baby cereal.

I saved a lot on plants for the flower bed by checking the clearance section. They had 6 packs of plants 50% off or more because one of them was a little wilted. The other 5 looked perfect.

I also got a lot of free stuff from Freecycle and Craigslist. You just never know what you're going to find there.

I don't go anywhere unless I absolutely have to, so I'm not using a lot of gas.

When we have gone out to eat (which has ony been a couple of times), we went on "BOGO night" and "Kids Eat Free night".

Oh, yeah... I've also been keeping the air/heat off unless we have to have it. The weather's been pretty nice, so it hasn't been to the point where we needed it too much. It's saved us over $100 in utilities.

Along the same line, I just found out that our gas company estimates the amount used and ony reads the meter every 2 or 3 months. They base your bill for the next quarter on what you spent the last quarter, unless you call in your reading or enter it onine. I actually called in our reading this month and it turns out that we overpaid so much the last two months that we now have a $3.30 credit, so we don't have to pay a bill this month.

DH also got a cell phone through work, so that will cut my phone bill in half, at least, starting this month.



With me not working, every little bit we save helps.

Well I bought the stuff to make my own laundry soap, which averages out to cost about 1 cent per load! I only go where we absolutely have to, and we rarely eat out.

With the exception of going to the grocery store this week, I haven't driven my car is over 2 weeks. That has saved me at least 1 tank of gas (about $35?).

I shopped the sales at the grocery store, used coupons and saved $118 this week!

I have been making new meals out of leftovers (tonight we used up the last of the teriyaki beef mixed with some teriyaki noodles - yum!) at least twice a week.

I have planted a huge garden and I am already starting to get some fruit and veggies! It's not saving me anything right now (in fact, I had to pay for the plants), but it is going to save me tons this spring and summer!

And I am refinishing an old dresser instead og getting a new one. Also refinishing 2 end tables and a coffee table to sell for cash! LOL! (SIL gave us her old one - really nice - so I am making mine look pretty to sell)

Planning a garage sale for next weekend. Going to use the money for bills!

We only have one on the new account, so we have to pass it back and forth between us. But when I get paid next, he is getting a prepaid gas card for the week and that is it! We still can't budget to save our lives!!

I have 6 kids so my grocery bill was getting expensive. I got a membership to Costco. So far I have been spending about the same that I spent at the grocery store BUT I'm getting way more food. It's great. I haven't had to use the heat as much since we've been having warmer days. Honestly, I don't even try anymore. To tired, lol.

I get breakfast and lunch at work 5 days a week. I also get dinner 2 nights a week. We are trying to buy on sale more often, and I recently purchased a new car that gets better gas mileage than my old one.

Also, I started my ING orange savings account last month, and automatically draft $30 a pay period in there. To boot, my insurance through work is better, so I am now on that, and Clint and the baby will be on it once the Doomling is born.

Back to the grocery store toady to buy meat. Found some great marked down stuff! Saved almost $90 total/ Also picked up some discounted donuts ($1, was $3.49) - the kids will love me!

Mostly, I'm still trying not to go anywhere that I don't have to. If I'm not out, then I can't spend money! And I put my credit cards away so I can't use them online. I gave them to Rick and told him to slap me if I asked for them!

I joined the Grocery Game yesterday after seeing her on a saving money special. $1 for a 4 week trial. We shall see how that goes!

And I got 3 new pair of Levis at Kohls - $44 original priced, I got one pair for $3.49, and 2 pairs for $11.99.

I've been a member of the Grocery Game for several years now. You are going to LOVE IT! You can get grocery stores in your area, as well as CVS and Walgreens. I pay $10 every 8 weeks for my membership, but I save more than that on just 1 trip to the store!

Another place to check out is www.refundingcents.com which also does the drug stores (all part of the yearly fee) and lots of other deals online and off. It's $24 a year for online access and a print version of the monthly magazine. Unless you do alot of refunding, you don't really need the magazine - I get it cause I like to read the stories about people saving so much money! Yeah, I get my jollies in strange ways!

On both sites, you can get referral credits to help pay for your subscription (hint, hint). Last year, I didn't pay anything for my grocery game membership, so it's definitely worth it! Too bad I have run out of friends I can coerce into joining! LOL!
