I Need Bottle Help!!

Acellyn is now 18 months and VERY ATTACHED to her bottle! I have tried every type of sippy cup there is..the ones with the straws etc. As soon as I put milk in a sippy she takes 1 drink and gets MAD!!!!!!!! I know Allec was about 16 months and just quit one day and the other 2 were 12 months. Acey is stubborn..plus when it seems like we are making progress she gets sick. I am afraid she will quit drinking milk all together..that is what Allec did..for awhile then he started again. She will drink water out of a sippy but NO MILK! HELP HELP HELP She does not like any kind of juices either..just milk and water!

Re: I Need Bottle Help!!

I just went cold turkey. Even with Ryan. When they are thirsty, they will drink.

Re: I Need Bottle Help!!

that is what she does..she throws it..I tell you this one is going to be the death of me..you know the saying..if you would have had this one first there would have been no more..well that is Acey..lol. She is just so different from the boys. She really is a good baby but I think this is the first of many challenges with her..lol. Next potty training..someone asked me if I have started that yet..I just looked at them like RU NUTS? How do you potty train a girl..with the boys they thought it was cool to pee on the trees and bugs..lol

Re: I Need Bottle Help!!

I am in agreement with Kim... cold turkey may be the only way to do it. I never had to deal with having a hard time switching but I know those that have... I know it is aggravating.

Oh yeah. He screamed bloody murder. But he got over it.

Re: I Need Bottle Help!!

I'm with Kim, you just have to go cold turkey. She will go nuts, but she will drink with the sippy cup when she's thirsty.

Re: I Need Bottle Help!!

First of all, she can get calcium other ways besides milk. She can eat yogurt or cheese, etc. Don't worry about her not drinking juice either. Water is fine for drinking, my pediatrician says all the time to give my kids water and skip juice. Travis does not drink milk at all anymore since we weaned him from the bottle. I give him orange juice with calcium.

Re: I Need Bottle Help!!

Acey and my daughter Jaedyn are the same age. When I put milk in her sippie cup she's returns it and informs me "baba" she knows her milk belongs in a bottle. I'm in the same boat but I'm going to start explaining to her that she must become a big girl like her brother did and drink from a cup.

Bribery always works well in my house even at her age LOL probably not the best advice but it might work...

Re: I Need Bottle Help!!

She does the same thing..I hide all the bottles..get out the sippy with milk and she brings it back SCREAMING...I say here is a baba..with the sippy in hand..she shakes her head no and throws it..lol. When she was getting ready to take her nap I gave her the sippy with milk and said big girl cup..didnt work!..glad to hear I am not the only one loosing this battle

Re: I Need Bottle Help!!

Yeah, I understand you don't want the screaming, but you also don't want Leah Remini's kid. She's FOUR, takes 4-6 bottles at night and is in diapers....

Re: I Need Bottle Help!!

Karen, I also have to say that this was really distressing to me until I talked it over with my pediatrician, and he told me all the things I told you. Now, let me tell you, Travis is a picky eater, and that distresses me still! So I do understand how you feel and how upsetting this is for you.

Re: I Need Bottle Help!!

I cant believe that about Leah's kid. My niece has a little girl who just turned 2 and is still on the bottle and when she was 18 months and still on formula and a bottle I thought HOW HORRIBLE..well who am I to judge when Acey is 18 months and on a bottle...with milk. TY everyone for advice..I am just really starting to get worried that Im not gonna be able to break her of this bottle thing!!!!!!!
