Anyone else have kids in any sports?

Ally is doing cheerleading right now. Not sure what, if anything, she will do this summer. Depends on finances.

My kids just don't care that much about playing sports... actually I don't think I could get them to play if I tried. It's fine with me as long as they stay active on their own.

Baseball is the sport of choice around these parts!

Austin wants to do football this fall..... we'll see about that!

Re: are your kids in sports this spring/summer?

Do let him do football! My oldest (7 1/2) has played flag the last two years and loved it. He will be moving up to tackle this fall. And my oldest DD (5) insists that she wants to play flag this year. If you're worried about injuries, my DH (who is in the Parks & Rec field) says that soccer injuries are more frequent and more serious than football injuries.

Our kids love sports and play a variety. Baseball, soccer, football, & basketball are what they've both played so far (except football for DD). Plus DD has taken ballet but decided to quit for basketball. So we let them try what they want but stick to one thing each at a time. Otherwise, we'd be going everywhere all the time!

We're doing soccer and t ball. I think dh was right and it is too much going on. I wanted to introduce her to a new sport. Dh did not think it was a good idea. He has not let me forget this. Dd is actually a good soccer player. We've missed some games, but I hope we'll be back on track with it this week. Dd has soccer in thr fall, too. I think we may put her on the pee wee basketball team this winter. I don't know the first thing about soccer. At least, I know how to play baseball. I love basketball. We have also been seriously considering martial arts when she turns 6.

Brandon is in baseball. Justin doesn't like it. I want/need to get him in soccer, but I think I missed this season sign up.

I have Aaron signed up for swimming lessons for August and Jeff wants to do martial arts with him but I'm not sure if he has decided whether or not to do it.

Re: are your kids in sports this spring/summer?

Alexandria finished track this week. She'll start high school in the fall, and she'll go out for tennis in the fall, basketball in winter, and track in spring.

William plays baseball from May to July, outdoor soccer from August to the end of October, and indoor soccer from November to April. He loves sports and is a very good athlete (he doesn't get it from me).

Henry plays fall soccer.

It's interesting how sports vary from area to area. Our baseball league requires kids to be seven before they can start tee/lob ball, so Henry will play baseball next year. Soccer doesn't start until kids are in kindergarten. Basketball starts in third grade.

Re: are your kids in sports this spring/summer?

The boys will be taking Karate for 11 wks on Tuesdays and the girls will be taking 11 weeks of Pom/cheerleading on Thursdays. It is through the boys and girls club so it is super cheap! I am so glad that my kids finally get to do something. I can never afford it so they are super excited!
