Re: field trips?
Zach goes to an environmental science magnet school so he's always going on field trips....two or so a month plus they have people come in to the school with animals and things. This month they are going to Lighthouse Point State park to see natural wildlife. I guess they are taken on a tour of the beach and the different ecosystems they can find there. They are also going to Common Ground High School which is an agricultural school they;ve been to before to see crops that were planted before and animals. He's been to farms, aquariums, the grocery store, had a wildlife rescue bring birds to the school, had an author visit the school, etc. His school, since it's a science school is attached to a state science research center and they visit there every so often and get talks with park rangers, etc.
I just took my class to see a play--Freedom Train about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad on Friday and next week I'm taking them for the last in a series of three trips to a wilderness camp that focuses on teamwork. We hike in the woods and do different activities that need and build teamwork. This time we climb trees and swing from ropes--yeah. I'm really quite nervous about it but you wear harnesses and such. I just don't want to look like a fool in front of the kids and don't want to chicken out either. I did all the other activities.
