Re: field trips?

Brandon went to the zoo a couple of weeks ago. He had a great time! I was a little nervous about the hour bus ride, but all went well.

Re: field trips?

They did and apple Farm in the fall (with a pumpkin patch) and they did a play put on by the HS in MArch.

Their end of year trip is another play (Farther away) and a tour of a pet shop.( a big well known one around here) I am making DAD go. We try and take turns throught the year. I figure it gives dad a chance to bond with his daughter since he hardly does anything with her. (He went last year and they went to the children's museum and then saw a movie in the pm and he fell asleep at the movie )

The Erie zoo is nice, he'll have so much fun!

Austin went to the Zoo last year. I wanted to go, but couldn't because I just had surgery 2 days prior to that. Waaayyyyy too much pain.

Do you guys live in Erie??
My husband is from Erie, and we go up there every few months. Infact we're talking about heading up again for a long weekened in June.

Re: field trips?

Zachary's class went to the Columbus Zoo yesterday and tomorrow Haley is going to King's Island (a theme park) with her school.
Zach's class also went to 2 movies this year, the pumpkin patch, and to the emergency services center. I don't remember ever going to the movies as a field trip... they always had to be educational trips.

Re: field trips?

Zach goes to an environmental science magnet school so he's always going on field trips....two or so a month plus they have people come in to the school with animals and things. This month they are going to Lighthouse Point State park to see natural wildlife. I guess they are taken on a tour of the beach and the different ecosystems they can find there. They are also going to Common Ground High School which is an agricultural school they;ve been to before to see crops that were planted before and animals. He's been to farms, aquariums, the grocery store, had a wildlife rescue bring birds to the school, had an author visit the school, etc. His school, since it's a science school is attached to a state science research center and they visit there every so often and get talks with park rangers, etc.

I just took my class to see a play--Freedom Train about Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad on Friday and next week I'm taking them for the last in a series of three trips to a wilderness camp that focuses on teamwork. We hike in the woods and do different activities that need and build teamwork. This time we climb trees and swing from ropes--yeah. I'm really quite nervous about it but you wear harnesses and such. I just don't want to look like a fool in front of the kids and don't want to chicken out either. I did all the other activities.
