Nap time!

How old is your child and how long (if at all) are they napping right now? What age did your child stop needing naps?

Both of my older two kids took naps right up until they started Kindergarten and then through the year during school hours. Once summer hit though, I did make nap time mandatory. Zachary even now @ 7 yrs old will crash some evenings around 5

Brenna is 24 months old and taking a 2 hr afternoon nap most days. She doesn't cooperate for mom as much as she does the babysitter though.

Re: Nap time!

Drew quit taking long naps about 2. He took "power naps" of 10-15 minutes tho until he was almost 5. Ally took naps until she was 4, but you had to watch her. SHe would sleep for hours and hours if you let her and then not sleep at night.

Re: Nap time!

Destiny and my childcare toddlers takes 2 hrs nap during the week. with her its sometimes hard to wake her up, she gets insomia sometimes and wont sleep at night, so she sometimes sleeps longer. Raymond during the summer i did make Resttime for everyone and it was the same.. 2 hours.

Re: Nap time!

Emily doesn't nap much anymore. She is 5 1/2. She will nap if she's not feeling well or just occasionally if she is tired. Emily gave up regular naps when she was about 3.
Travis will take an early afternoon nap every day. He naps for 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

Re: Nap time!

Kieran is my only napper. At three years old, he'll nap for about two hours starting around 2pm. However, he gets up at 6:30am and goes to bed by 9pm.

Re: Nap time!

My girls normally do not take naps, however Emily will want to nap around 5-6pm some days. When she does that (like she did yesterday) she will stay up half the night (like we were last night.) I try my absolute best to try to get her to stay awake, but sometimes it is impossible. She usually falls asleep in the car, so we try to avoid taking her anywhere after 6pm. Last night she slept through Mass (7pm service) and woke up when we got home. She and I were awake until 2am, which isn't good considering Kindergarten starts tomorrow.

Re: Nap time!

Cara still needs a nap at 19 months. I don't think Kate ever napped. We have always had trouble with her sleeping.

Re: Nap time!

Hmm...Kel would take naps last year after preschool. Christian stopped ages ago. We know when he takes a nap that he really needs it and we let him go. Same with Kel. This summer she only took them if she was tired.

I don't make them take them but if they get too mean and are fighting to much we send them to their rooms for alone time. I mean they still can play with their toys and tvs and stuff but sometimes they just need that time and they always come out in a better frame of mind!
