Watching the Rain

My favorite thing to do on a rainy day is just to go out on the porch and listen to the rain. I grew up just outside of a small town, so we had a nice view of a little grassy hill and lots of trees. It was nice to sit on a covered porch and watch the rain. Actually, it turned out to be a great opportunity for everyone to just sit around and talk. My Dad is a good story-teller, so that helped. And if it was lightening we would always count from the strike to the thunder to see if we could tell how far away it was. Good times

Re: Watching the Rain

I loved watching storms move in! When I was young we moved from urban Houston to 700 acres in a small town in central Texas. I loved watching the storms move in, sometimes I would have a camera and catch the lightning strikes. My sisters would all make up stories about what was going on up there.

Yep, it's the simple things in life that make the most fond memories. I remember listening to the rain/thunder as a child, as well as listening to the crickets on a summer night.

Re: Watching the Rain

Storms - lightening - don't really like them. But if they are far off, then I like to watch them.

kdAlise, just noticed you are in Houston! Howdy Neighbor! I'm in Katy!

Mom's cabin has a tin roof with nothing under it. I *loved* listening to the rain esp at night.

Re: Watching the Rain

hi Spaggie! I actually live in Pearland, but it's easier to say Houston

knee cole, I know what you mean. My grandmother's house had a tin roof, and I loved to hear the rain at her house, especially when it got really loud
