Woman living in her car

I know the concept isn't new of people living in their cars but this story just saddens me.

I wish she had some family or friends who were willing to help her out. Poor woman!!! It sounds like she is trying since she has landed another job and is trying to take care of herself and her two dogs.

Re: Woman living in her car

I saw this on the news the other night. It's very sad. You'd think this would be a HUGE red flag that this country is going in the WRONG direction.

I'm glad there are groups out there advocating for attention to this issue. At the same time I wonder why these people don't move to less expensive to live areas? The ones who were profiled don't have much family or family who would take them in , so what's to stay around for?

Re: Woman living in her car

How incredibly sad! I also am glad that they are bringing attention to this problem but wonder why these people don't move to areas that are more affordable... there are $8 an hr jobs here (the same that she is making there) and apartments only run about $400 a month. I'm sure picking up and moving is a difficult decision, especially when you are flat broke and have no clue where you will go, but you have to start somewhere.

Re: Woman living in her car

In California, the housing is more expensive than just about anywhere else. NY city is comparable to them. I paid $134 for my 4br, 3 bath house. In Ca it would go for well over a million. Land is just that expensive out there.

As for why they don't move, many of then literally can't afford to move to a cheaper part of the country. It takes money to move and they don't have it. Certainly the area they live in doesn't have any cheaper housing.
