Bunk beds

I wish I had seperate rooms for the girls, but that is not the case. So It's bunk beds for now.

I am thinking of this one:

or this one:

I really like the second one, but my dd has broken stuff like that and I can see her breaking this too. The first one looks more sturdy. I really wish I could afford/had the space for something nicer. But the first one is on sale at the local Big Lots for $160/0% financing for one year.

Re: Bunk beds

The girls have had theirs for 2 years now. Kev wouldnt buy from a mart and we went to a bedroom store (way too much if you ask me) and got the girls metal ones. They are ok but not something we can take apart.

Re: Bunk beds

I got H & M some for Christmas. They were the really sturdy wood ones similar to the first link and I got them from Wal Mart for right at $100. They are also the kind that come apart so I figured when they want to move into their own room, we are already prepared. And these are NICE. Pretty plain but cute and just decorative enough that they look good. I do not like the ones in the first link because there is too much going on and look too masculine to me.
Hailey used to have metal ones but they ended up being so squeaky after a few years. I was glad to get them out of here!

Re: Bunk beds

Mine are very similar to the top picture but without the spindle work on the wood. I think I got ours at Walmart for roughly $100

Re: Bunk beds

I haven't checked Walmart yet. I'll have to look there. I don't really like the first set either. Dd wants a $1,000 set that would take a much bigger room than we have.

Re: Bunk beds

I can't find the $100 ones online at Walmart. Here's the set Kate wants: http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_1...e=For+the+Home

Re: Bunk beds

Drew wanted one like that, too. We looked at them, but they just won't fit in the room he has. We got him one that has the full size on the bottom with the twin on top. It's solid wood, pretty plain, but nice looking. Not sure, but I think his is all one piece.

Re: Bunk beds

I have thought about getting some used, but as dh said there is a lice problem around here. The Walmart set is $179 now. That will require some saving up as we have to get a mattress too. Cara climbed out of her bed last night, so we can't wait much longer.

Re: Bunk beds

Will lice stay on furniture? Couldn't you disenfect used furniture if afraid of that?

I'm in no way saying buy used as we bought new bunk beds for our kids, but if that's your reason for not looking at used, seems like there's a way to prevent catching something from a used bed. Used mattress I wouldn't consider (unless from someone I knew well) but a used bedframe is different.

Re: Bunk beds

Its dh's reason. He wants to buy new. Besides, I have been looking around and I can't find any used.

Re: Bunk beds

I like the first ones. My brother and step-brother had them. They were the kind that could be taken apart and used as twins, used as bunks, or turned with the bottom one at a 90 degree angle in an L-shape so that you had sort of a little loft (if that makes any sense). They loved them.
