I just read The Mistress's Daughter by A. M. Homes. It was great. I read it in one day. Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner is finally out. It's about Cannie and her life after getting married (she's the main character from Good in Bed)That is what I was looking for when I found the book by Homes. I was at Target, and they were out of a lot of books.

Re: What are you reading?

I was waiting for Certain Girls to come out a few weeks ago, and decided to pick up Marley & Me by John Grogan. It's really cute so far.. about a family and their crazy dog. I guess it's coming out in Movie form in December too.

Re: What are you reading?

I have about two pages left of Wintersmith by Terry Prachett. I have about a quarter of The Dearest and the Best by Leslie Thomas left to read. It's a WWII saga I got off the free rack at the VA.

Spoiler alert!

It's a good book, but one of the characters is cheating on his wife and I just can't stand him. She's not an orge or anything. She's actually very nice and gives all her time while he's away volunteering to help the war effort. He just finds her dull. He's not even in the war. He's two hours north of his home stationed in London! I think the author could have left that out. I am so glad I read ahead and i know a bomb landed on him. HIs wife is so nice and all he does is yell at her and cheat on her. I'm skipping the parts he's in.

Re: What are you reading?

I haven't picked up an adult book in a few weeks. I was reading a chapter book with the girls and we just finished it up on Sunday night.

Re: What are you reading?

I've been reading White, which is the third book in a trilogy by Ted Dekker. The first two are Black and Red, in that order. They're kind of a combination of thriller and fantasy-fiction. I won't give too much away, but the premise is that there's a guy who wakes up in another world, and when he falls asleep there he wakes up back here, and vice versa. The story goes on from there. It's really intriguing and original. It is a Christian author, so it does have some religious references.

Re: What are you reading?

Right now I am reading the Stanislavski books by Nora Roberts. They are about a Ukranian family living in New York. Modern romances. I just finished "The Interruption of Everything" byTerry McMillan - great book. She wrote "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" and "Waiting to Exhale", both were awesome!

I also just finished 3 Janet Evanovich books, "Eleven on Top", "Twelve Sharp" and "Plum Lucky". They revolve around the main character, Stephanie Plum, and take place in NJ (around Trenton). She works in her cousin Vinnie's Bail Bonds office as a bounty hunter - not a very good one. These books are hilarious! I want to go back and get the first 10 (they are numbered). "Plum Lucky" is a between the numbers Stephanie Plum book. A short quick read, but still very good. I HIGHLY recommend this series!

I have a few books in reserve right now. I seem to have a problem buying books lately since they are part of my department at work, so I am constantly looking at them! Even Rick mentioned how many I have brought home in the past few weeks. What can I say? I'm a book fanatic!

I'm reading Girls in Trucks by Katie Crouch. It's about a South Carolina debutante who goes north for college.

I read Certain Girls a few weeks ago and was very disappointed in it.

Re: What are you reading?

Nothing right now. With DS gone, this would be the perfect time to start a book, though.

Re: What are you reading?

I've been reading Cesar Millan's book Be The Pack Leader off and on. I really need to finish it before I have to dive into textbooks. Once I start school textbooks are all I'll be reading.
