Lactose Intolerance?

Thread Starter
Over the last several weeks my favorite 'snack' has been cereal. I tend to get this way in the summer, just because I don't feel like eating anything hot, and so forth.
Along with that has come many.. many bathroom trips.
I wake up in the middle of the night miserable. My stomach cramping and hurting, and then I spend a good majority of 20 minutes going to the bathroom (sorry- TMI).

This doesn't happen on the days I don't eat cereal either, I've tried.

Could that mean I'm developing an intolerance to dairy?

My aunt is lactose intolerant as well.. but I really never asked what 'symptoms' of it were.

Re: Lactose Intolerance?

That is definitely one of them. Also, for me, there is bloating, cold like symptoms and breathing problems. I have a true dairy allergy. You may find that it is just milk and you have no problems at all with cheese or yogurt.

I have Vanilla Rice milk on my cereal. It is thiner than milk, but it is pretty good.

I have so been there, Robyn. I feel your pain.

Re: Lactose Intolerance?

I am lactose intolerant, too, and I mostly have the cold symptoms. I do occasionally have the stomach problems you described. I love cereal, yogurt, and ice cream. It really stinks to be lactose intolerant! I use Lactaid milk. I like the fat free kind, and I can't really tell a difference between it and 2% milk as far as taste and consistency goes.

Re: Lactose Intolerance?

Could be. Just track what you have eaten when it happens & mention it to the MD at your next checkup or visit.
