Unbelievable. Underlying point was good.
The way they presented things, BAD.

I understand what they were trying to do but I think they may have crossed the line on getting the point across. There are probably other ways they could have reached the students of what drunk driving can do without upsetting them in a bad way.

WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!

I understand what they were trying to do, but the way they went about it was totally wrong. If I was the parent of one of those student, I would be having a hissy fit right about now! How dare they scare and tramautize student like that? It's not their place to do this no matter how good their intentions were.

Re: School Defends Car Wrecks Hoax

I'm not so sure it was all bad. As someone who found out at school that a close friend had been killed by a drunk driver I know how those kids felt. Unfortunatly in my case it was not a hoax, Malcom really was dead. I have never in my life drunk alcohol and then got behind the wheel of a car.

On the other hand my husband has been known to do so (altho not in several years) and it was his brother who was killed. He was so traumatised by Malcoms death that it still affects him to this day and that was nearly 30 years ago.

I feel that a traumatic shock that stops a very real death and life long pain for the family and friends is justified

Re: School Defends Car Wrecks Hoax

my local high school does this all the time!

i think it is an awesome way to make the message stick!

expecially at grad time!

how much do you all want to bet that that specific grad class has NO fatalities from DUI this year

Re: School Defends Car Wrecks Hoax

I think its a great idea. Its a great way to get that message across to kids and actualy have it stick to them. How many times have you ever told your kids to no t do something because of the results, and then they go do it anyways.

I think that they should do that sort of thing more often. WHy not do that sort of thing with repeated drunk drivers? Or drivers who have lost their license because of reckless driving and stuff? Maybe then they would realize how much of an affect their actions actually have?
