New here, of course. I've been married to my wonderful hubby for 2 years but we've been together 3 and were friends for probably 3 years before that. My hubby and I just started ttc. I went off the birth control last week. This will be our first. The only babies we have right now are furry. I was excited to find a site with such a wide range of topics before, during, and after birth.

If anyone has suggestions for books, links, other info on home birth (we have a midwife) and eco-friendly baby products I'd really appreciate it.

Random question: Does anyone know from personal experience about getting tattoos during pregnancy?

Probably one of the more ecologically friendly things you can do is breastfeed. Plus there are a lot of other benefits.

Welcome to Babyu. My wife loved the book what to expect when expecting... Also if you don't mind a little crude humor Belly Laughs from Jenny Mccarthy(tells it like it is).

i agree with what to expect when you are expecting being a great book!

there are so many 'green' choices out there that you should be able to find a ton of products and suggestions!

I have a backpiece that is in progress. The problem is my artist lives in New Orleans and he only gets back here a few times a year. I've talked to him about it and he doesn't tattoo on pregnant women. You're body is already working so hard to develop the baby, that recovering from tattoo work places unnecessary stress on the body. My tattoo is of a celtic tree of life with a fairy in the middle. At the base is the word athas (a-hus, which means joy in gaelic). Below that are two celtic peacocks. It was designed to look like jewelry. The tree of life and athas are to remind me that joy can be found in all seasons of life.

Your tattoo sounds beautiful!

Where in TX are you? There are quite a few Texans around here! I'm in the Houston area, we have a few in/around San Antonio and Janice is from Waco (I think).

I live in the country near Martindale and Lockhart. We're only about 7 minutes from San Marcos.
