First time Labor, easier than I thought!

I thought I would share my story

My son's due date was originally april 24th according to my LMP but by dating his due date was may 3rd (I conceived on birth control pills so who knew when he'd be born?!)

Well I'd been making my weekly visits. Three weeks prior I had a little bout of preterm labor where I was 60%effaced and was 2.5cm dialated. Since then each week absolutly nothing had changed! So me and my fiance left the doctors office slightly dissapointed. (we'd packed everything just incase) And then went to do some shopping and to test out the whole, walking makes the baby come theory. My appt was 2pm in the afternoon, by the time we got home it was around 5pm.

Around 7pm I had to go to the restroom (eep) when all of a sudden my water broke! Me and my fiance' became pretty readily panicky, called the service for the doctor's office, then my mom, recieved the call from my doctor then called my mom again. I think there were some more back and forth panicky calls with my mother, then after shoving everything back into my car (with a towel on my car seat) we were off to the hospital! Of course the doctor's office was almost 30mi away and it normally takes an hour to get there. Well we made record time since rush hour was over (and I'm sure he was probally speeding...oi) Stopped at wawa to get some food, (we had never had dinner and who knows when they would have fed me), got slightly impatient with the employees as I explained to them that I was in labor, and got back into my car.
My contractions finally started about 5 minutes before arriving at the hospital, got into the room around 8:30pm and after getting all set up my doctor told me I was already 6cm dialated! What a change from 2pm that afternoon. She even thought I wasn't going to need any pain medication because I was progressing so quickly and wasn't really having pain with my contractions.

However that changed a few hours later heh, I laugh now but that was the worst pain I'd ever experienced in my life, thankfully it was only for a couple of hours, and since I was still only 6cm they gave me the epidural. It went perfectly and I had no complications with it, I didn't even have to press the button again untill after delivery.

Started pushing around midnight (although I couldn't feel a thing, only a slight feeling when he finally dropped down into my pelvis) and pushed untill 1:57am on the 24th when my son Connor was born, 18.5 inches 6lbs 12oz!

My parents were pretty impressed as later that day I was already out and about walking around and aside from feeling sore I wasn't really in that much pain afterwards. My father told me I looked a hell of a lot better than my mother did 10hrs after having me

Thanks guys
Yeah it was awesome, considering I've been absolutly terrified of the thought of child birth ever since I first saw a video about it.
