Did you name your child after your mom?


Mine's Evelyn. Heavens no, I hate that name.

Now thats a coincidence, my Mum's real name is Evelyn as well However she has alway's been called Lois (her second name) and legally changed her name to that a few years ago.

And no I did not call any of my sons Lois

However the boys middle names are after our fathers and Greg's middle name is after my maternal grandfather

Mom's name is Teena Longstrider Foster. While I love the spelling of Teena, I'm not thrilled with the name itself. So no, I didn't.

besides, Mom has this adversion to naming a baby after someone still living.

I'm the same way. We never even considered my mom's name, Rosemarie, as a girl's name. My mom, though, was named after her mom - Oma's first name is my mom's middle name.

My Mom's first name is Evelyn. MIL's middle name is Leigh, and if this baby was a girl I wanted to name her either Kimberleigh Evelyn or Kimberleigh Sue. I love my Mom's first name!

My mom's full name is Linda Kay Katherine (Katherine is her confirmation name which she uses). As much as I might like my mom's name, I never considred using it, or my MIL's (Betty Ann), for Ally. Rick and I knew exactly what a girl would be named. Alexis (Rick's fav name) Caitlin (my fave name). If Drew had been a girl, that would have been his name. There was never any arguments about that one. Boys names, on the other hand, were a different story.

My Mom's name was Charlotte Elaine..

While I don't like the name Charlotte, I LOVE the name Elaine.
If Dylan had been a girl (or there is another child that makes her way onto the earth via my uterus) her name will be Madilyn Elaine.

my moms name was Joan Shirley Virginia
she went by Shirley.

i believe in carrying on a name through middle names more than first names.

although i do like the name Shirley still

Oh I love the name Charlotte and mulled over the name Charlotte Elizabeth for a girl before we decided on Anna Evangeline.

My mom's name is Esther and though it is Biblical, I can't say that I like it. Jeff's mom's name is Margaret and my aunt is Margaret so that's a no-no as well.

My mom's name is Sandy Lee, and her twin sister is Sandra Gail (goes by Gail). When I have kids I probably won't be using either of their names. But my grandmother (their mother) was named Lillie, and I really like that. I even like the spelling

My mom name is Mercy...I don't want my baby inherit her name because i think her name is not that cute to hear, sorry mom.... I LOVE YOU...I know you know it...I like Marian Elise if I were substitute her name it goes like this...Mercy Elise...Ugh too bad...

My mom's name is Darci Lanese -- Kiera was named for her (Kiera Lanese). Nicole is the only one not named for family. Kylie Ann Marie - Ann (my sister, Nana, Grandma, and ex-DH's sister's middle name) Marie (My step grandma, youngest sister, and ex's mom's middle name).

My moms name is Hui Suk I don't think I will name my baby after her, but I do want to some how incorporate her name in our baby girls name ( if we have a girl )

My mom also goes by Susie or Columbia <--something like that it is her church name...

OMG NO!!!! My mother's name is Cathy Mildred. My grandmother's name is Nelda Frances. Now my Great Grandmother.. her name was Essie. I LOVE that but I have a cousin named Esi after her, and I hated the woman. My MILs name was Karen Louise and Heather named Karah after her.

My mom's name was Sharon Louise, but she went by Louise.
Her mom's name was Margaret.
My dad's mom's name was Laura Alma, and I love the name Laura, but didn't really want to use it as a first name. Try using Laura as a middle name! Not too easy.
So, we didn't name Emily after anyone.

I was kinda named after my grandma... I do like her name. It was Letty, My parents didn't want to name me that since they thought people would make fun of that name... but it is growing on me I am starting to like it.

My Mom's name is Maria. It's a pretty name and I do have a daughter, but my husband and I decided that, boy or girl, we would use no family names. That way we would not run the risk of anyone feeling left out.

Oh Shona! LouEller? seriously? I thought my grandmother EmmaBelle was a weird one.

My mother's name is Liese Suzanne. Most people just pronounce it Lisa because it's easier but it's really pronounced with a "Z"

I don't give my kids name after my parents name, cus in my culture that's forbidden and impolite. Because your calling your kids with your parents name..lol it's odd I know. However, I do combine my parents name so it doesn't sound like their names.. I guess that's fine..lol
