Does it matter to you if a candiate is a pet owner? Does the type of pet a candidate has matter?

family means more to me than pets do. although admitidly pets are a part of a family

No, it doesn't and it never will. Sorry, but I look at a candidates' political beliefs and their record and whether or not they are qualified to do the job they are running for. Having a pet doesn't affect that one way or the other - unless maybe they were running for dog catcher.

I think it's great that candidates own pets, but it's not a factor in who I do or don't vote for.

It does matter to me locally, because we have some draconian cat ordinances. If a local candidate has a cat, I hope he or she will do something about the cat ordinances. Otherwise, it doesn't really matter to me.

As much as I love animals, pet ownership does not influence my voting decision. The morals and beliefs of the candidates are important to me. When the winner makes decisions about the economy or whatever important issue, he is not going to be asking his dog "what do you think Rover?" If the candidate helps make things better for U.S. Citizens then those of us who are pet owners can take care of our pets in a better world.
