The family that I babysat for last year is moving this week. I'd like to do something to help them out while they're moving or get them something for their new home. Any ideas?

Re: Housewarming/New Home gift?
You know, one of the best things I've ever gotten was a gift certificate to a pizza place or somewhere to pick up a quick meal. You know how tiring moving is and it's nice to be able to pick up something quick and not have to worry about cooking. Or you could cook something and take it to them/freeze it so they can cook it when they need it.

My "usual" housewarming gift is a Yankee Candle tart warmer and half a dozen or so tarts. (I live close to a YC outlet

Re: Housewarming/New Home gift?
Here is a quick one that everyone likes and you can get just about everything at the dollar store.1. Saucepan - large is better
2. Spaghetti
3. Sauce
4. Paper Plates
5. Utensils
6. Napkins
7. Tongs (for spaghetti)
8. Cups
9. Drinks
I get cloth napkins and line the pot with them. Get 1 set of utensils for each person and tie a ribbon around them (plastic utensils work fine). Put everything in the pot, with a bow on the handle and you are done! It's a quick meal (15 minutes or less), they don't have to search for anything to cook it (cause you gave them everything they need - just put the sauce into the pot with the spaghetti after cooking, so 1 pot dinner), and clean up is easy because most of it is disposable.
Another idea is a dessert of some kind. We normally buy dinner when we move (quick), but having a little desert afterwards is nice. Homemade cookies on a pretty platter (dollar store again) is always nice.
I love the idea of a GC to a pizza place!
