Attachment parenting

So, does anyone here consider themselves "crunchy"? Do you wear your baby, cloth diaper, breastfeed, co-sleep? Or did you do any of these types of things with your baby when he/she was younger?

Here is a fun quiz to find out how crunchy you are!

Re: Attachment parenting

I got 175
225-170 WOW!~Crunchier than Grape Nuts!

I make my own cloth diapers, wear cloth pads, use eco safe cleaning products, buy organic when I can afford it, hardly ever shave or wear make up. I believe totally in child lead weaning.. Aiden no longer wanted the breast after 2, but I would have happily fed him for many more years.I wore him in a sling till he was 2.
I co slept with Jessica till she was 4, Breeze till she was 8 and Skye (7) and Aiden still sleep with me. I hardly ever see doctors and use herbal rememdies when needed.
I plan on an unassisted birth next time too

Re: Attachment parenting

129-90 Mmm! Love that whole-grain cruncH!

I could be higher but I don't do organic or cloth diaper. (I've considered cloth diapering this monkey when it's born. I'm just not sure where to start)

Re: Attachment parenting

I scored 124...I Made Lucas' diapers, breastfeed, co-sleep, homeschool, I may start wearing cloth pads full time (they are so much softer and more comfy!)

Re: Attachment parenting

Becca, maybe try a moon or Diva cup instead of cloth pads.. I can't stand having things put in my poonani, but that's just me, lots of women preffer cups to pads

Karen, google is your friend There's Motherease, baby beehinds, Berry plush and many other brands in America. You buy online and support WAHM's that way too

I'll spam my store because it's in another country so there's no financial benifit for me showing you guys anyway (I don't sell oversease)

I'm actually closing shop anyway because I don't have the time for it anymore.

Re: Attachment parenting

I've googled and I've gotten some links. I gues the part I need help is the went to change. Like say I got a pocket diaper. She pees (I have 2 right now for Peyton) I have to change the whole diaper right? So what the point of a pocket (insert)

I also have some patterns to make my own. I'm just stumped as to where to start. Good thing I got 7 months yet before this monkey gets here

Re: Attachment parenting

I've tried the Instead cup and hated it. I really don't care for tampons either, they give me headaches.

Karen, I use the MamaBird pattern, I have it and can email it to you if you want, it's very simple to make. All I used was flannel, Lastin, and Touch Tape. Oh and my serger

Re: Attachment parenting

Usually with a pocket diaper the outer of the diaper will stay dry, you don't wash the cover as much as you do the insides. I prefer fitted dipes, they're what I used with the boys so I'm used to them I guess.

I got it from when you posted it.

What size Lastin do you use? and where did you get your touch tape?

Re: Attachment parenting

Yep, obviously if she poo's you change her right away, but for pee's, if the diaper has a stay dry liner on inner, then the insert can get wet and she will still be dry.
They usually can be worn for 2-3 hours before needing changing.
You can buy all in 2 diapers which you can get away with changing the insters and reusing the shells, but that doesn't work with pocket diapers.
The insert is the soaker pad, if it's not used the outside of the diaper gets wet really fast... you may as well just put a pair of knickers on her

Re: Attachment parenting

For the legs I like 3/8" Lastin. If I put it in the back I use 1/4".

I got the Touch Tape on eBay because I never could find Velcro locally sold in rolls. The name of the seller is diaperstash

Re: Attachment parenting

Cool Thanks. I am on a coop that just did a Lastin buy. Maybe they will do another one by the time I figure out what I am doing

Re: Attachment parenting

I scored an 80.

89-60 Pretty crispy!

Some of the questions didn't apply to me and there was no NA answer. I had to have c-sections. No way is some dr going to cut me open like that with no drugs! Also, my tubes are tied. No birth control of any kind at all for me anymore!

Yep, I use disposable female products and diapers . And i shave my pits and legs almost everyday. I'm filling up the landfills with poopoo diapers and femine hygene products. Am I feeling especially guilty about this -- nope, I don't think so.

Re: Attachment parenting

I think touching that stuff at all is ewww. That's why I throw it away. I wrap that stuff in double plastic bags. The upside is: they are old grocery bags I am reusing.

Re: Attachment parenting

59-20 Sprinkled with granola!

no excuses here, just not very crunchy

Re: Attachment parenting

Not sure I'd like being labeled 'crunchy', but I do practice some things associated with attachment parenting. I scored a 93.

Re: Attachment parenting

63, pretty crispy. Kind of on the fence I guess.

Re: Attachment parenting

I scored a 50. I am sprinkled with granola!

Re: Attachment parenting

Here's a shock, I scored a 12, instant oatmeal. So far from crunchy, and honestly, with adopted kids, some of it just didn't apply to me. Then Olivia was a surprise, so the fertility stuff just never came up... However, I probably still would've scored close to 12 if I had all biological kids, come on, do I come off as "crunchy"????

Re: Attachment parenting

I'm "pretty crispy" ... that is funny because I've always used the terms "crunchy" and "granola" to describe the all natural hippie type.

Re: Attachment parenting

I scored an 81 - "Pretty Crispy". Strange, because I never really thought of myself that way. Some of the questions were hard to answer, like the breastfeeding one. I wanted to breastfeed, tried, but didn't produce enough milk. So we had to use the bottle - no choice. I just went with what I would have liked to have done is things had gone the way I wanted them to.

I do use natural cleaners, but not because I'm trying to help the Earth. I do it because it cheaper! And no way am I using a cup - the very thought grosses me out. As for childbirth - I'm a wimp - give me drugs!
