Class reunion fee

Situation: Your 20th year class reunion is coming up (or any class reunion)..

How much would you be willing to pay to attend it?

(Let's say it covers facility rental, food, photographer..etc). It is a 4 hour reunion.

Re: Class reunion fee

Honestly, $0. There is no one from the class I graduated with that I care to reassociate myself with. LOL

Re: Class reunion fee

i wouldn't pay a whole lot

Re: Class reunion fee

We paid $20 each for dinner, either steak or chicken, which was pretty icky.

It would totally depend on where it is being held.

Re: Class reunion fee

I agre eit all depends. My 10 was 75/per person, no deal for couples, it was at a restaurant 4 hours, with a dj. In CT so with travel expenses (3 hour drive) ohh and cash bar, it just was not worth it to me. I guss they only had like 40 people out of the 250 we graduated with.

Re: Class reunion fee

None actually. I went to my dad's class reunions when I was kid. They were potluck in the city park. Everybody brought their kids. It was fun. Since I have to travel halfway across the country, it's really not worth it to me.

Re: Class reunion fee

Ok..so I got my invitation in the mail yesterday and this is the breakdown:

It is $85 per individual ($170/couple) if sent before Sept 8

It is $90 per person ($180/couple) if sent between Sept 9-22

It is $95 per person ($190/couple) at the door

Here is where they are having it:

http://www.madart.com/facilityrental/

I can order a directory on CD for $25 even if I don't attend.

I don't know if I really want to see any of my old classmates THAT bad!!! So I'm leaning towards skipping it. If I want to contact someone I can get it from the directory!! The place they are having it looks nice but..man, I just don't know if it is worth it.

Re: Class reunion fee

IMO, it's off to see your sister and nephew. For the price of the tickets, it would be about the same or less to drive to Kansas. Plus, that's only a few hours of possible fun whereas a trip to see your sister is a few days of definite fun.

Re: Class reunion fee

yeah... that seems a little expensive to me

Um, I think I'd pass too.

Re: Class reunion fee

Yeah, my coworkers think it's a bit expensive too. Now, if it was $80 per couple I'd go...but they didn't ask me now did they? Actually, having a picnic would have been nice and probably much cheaper.

Re: Class reunion fee

ours was around 50.00 a person for the ten year reuinon. that includes a cocktai evening, (no spouse) a round of golf, dinner and dance and a picnic at the lake on the sunday, i would probably be willing to pay around 100.00 for that kind of weekend!

my 20 year is next year, so we will see what they come up with this time!

Re: Class reunion fee

Cheryl, unless you are just dyig to see people, I thik I would pass. And I would definitely let the people running know that the reason is that it is TOO expensive to make it worth it. Especially in today's economy.

Re: Class reunion fee

Thanks Brenda. I'm definitely not 'dyin'' to see anyone that bad. 3 of my friends are on the reunion committee. I'm really surprised none of them have called me. I was asked if I wanted to be on it and I said yes but hadn't heard anything else about it until we got the pre-invitation info on the date and place of the reunion. If any of them do call me I do plan on telling them that I thought the price was a little steep. I tried calling one of them a couple weeks ago (before I knew what the price was) but her answering machine was full. And then another time it just kept ringing. Maybe she was out of town.

Re: Class reunion fee

That's expensive! It was $80.00 a couple for DH's reunion and I thought that was too much.

Re: Class reunion fee

Now see...if it was $80 a couple I would have signed up to go. (even though even that is still a little steep...but still affordable).

None of my friends who are on the committee have called me yet...I'm surprised.

Re: Class reunion fee

My 20 year is coming up, and I am not going. I wanted to, but it's a total joke. They are having it in a BARN on the property the parents of a girl we all graduated with. The cost is $25 per person, and I just can't see it. When I pictured my 20 year reunion, I did not have a "hoe down" in mind! Even if they paid me $25 I don't think I would go to that redneck gathering.

Re: Class reunion fee

I agree, Cheryl. Buy the directory CD, and use the money you save to see your sister or visit a BU friend!

Well, maybe in the 1800's...or out in the middle of nowhere...but no I can't imagine what that kind of reunion would be like.

Maybe I can get my bro and his family to meet me in Atlanta next year sometime and then maybe I can meet you (you are in the Atlanta area, right?)
