Has anyone started buying baby things ??

I'm just wondering if I am getting a little out of hand...
I have been looking at cribs ( one of Mass's friends just told him he has one if we want it , not sure how much ...) and planning to go out and start buying diapers and stuff like that. I almost stopped at a yard sale this morning on the way home cause I saw baby stuff. I know that I am on CD5 of the first ttc month, but ..... do ya think I am getting a little out of hand here ??

I am afraid to make the Hubby crazy. If he hides from me it will make it a whole lot harder to have some successful bms

What do ya think ??

Maybe buying things is a teensy bit soon for right now. But hey, whatever brings you joy. But so that you don't get your hopes up, I would wait till you find out for sure, then go on a spree.

I know it's hard when you see all those wonderful things in the store and just want to get one of everything because you know that SOMEday you will use them. But you also don't want to get ahead of yourself ...I don't know. Does it really matter what we think? Do what you want. Whatever makes you happy. And if you do buy all that stuff now, you won't have to worry about it later.

Go ahead girl!

It depends on how YOU look at things, and your finacial situation. If you think it will take a long time before you can get everything you need(b/c of money), then I think starting early is a good thing. That way you know you will have the stuff. If you think you can handle having the baby stuff, before you are pregnant, then go for it.

Kris,
If I thought I could handle it emotionally, I would!
If it doesn't bother you, I say "go for it!"

I haven't bought like a crib or anything...but we do have a few clothes...and toys....and things from DH's baby nursery....and we are gettin' ready to paint the nursey.

I don't think we have going to buy big items until we get PG.

Well, I know that they are really expensive, and I am cheap ( although Massimo is kind and calls me frugal ..... ) I would rather look around now to find a sale or something than to wait

Like Heather said, if you can emotionally handle it, go for it!!!

I know I personally wouldn't be able to handle it. So I haven't bought anything.

I have bought a few things and I have to say this month it was hard having them in the house so I decided to put them in a hope chest untill we get the ++++++ result. That way when the emotions come I am not looking at the clothes and things that I have bought.

Hey--whatever makes you happy.

I found some adorable clothes and toys on sale before I was ever married. I bought them because I figured that one day, either I'd have a baby or I'd need them for gifts. I held on to them for quite a while, but when the baby finally got here, I still had them.

I stocked up on diapers when I first found out I was expecting. Then I got four or five packages of Newborn and Size 1 diapers. I actually ended up with too many when it was all said and done, because Jonathan took a growing spurt all of a sudden and now needs a size 2. If you can believe that. I just took two packages back to the store to exchange for bigger ones. And I have partial bags of smaller ones to give away.

If your financial situation is such that you can afford it, and it makes you happy, go for it. I just didn't get too much stuff ahead of time because I didn't want to have a ton of baby stuff and then get depressed looking at it if I didn't get pregnant soon after that.

I had a miscarriage, so people are very hesistant with me about baby stuff. I get "you might have another miscarriage. You don't want to get too excited about this stuff. Your baby could die." My answer is "Thank you very much. Now, please be quiet. I am trying to think postively."

Because my dh and I wanted a very unique look and I wanted to make everything myself, I started making baby room stuff a couple of months ago. It actually made me feel better about losing my baby. I haven't started painting the nursery yet, but I have the stuff to do it when I am ready.

Whatever works for you. Because buying a whole lot of baby things at once is expensive, I wanted to spread it out. I haven't bought any diapers or clothes though. That would be too hard emotionally for me.

I wouldn't be able to handle it emotionally either. To get a negative result and then have to see all the baby items I bought would make me cry. So, we are waiting for that positive result
