Prayers please

My kids' babysitter and close friend, Tia, runs a licensed home daycare. Recently the state took over regulations for all home daycares (it was in job & family services hands) and today was Tia's meeting to go over the new regs. She has less than 60 days (that includes the one extension she can file) to fence in her yard as well as do several other smaller jobs around her house... if she can't comply she will lose her license & her income and I will be without childcare.
It is going to be an expensive job and she has no idea how she is going to manage it right now ...

Re: Prayers please

does she have to be licensed to run a dayhome or can she do it privately? I know that up here, depending on your numbers you don't have to be licensed

Re: Prayers please

She has to be licensed to receive pay from Job & Family services ... my children and most of the other children Tia cares for are on a program for child care assistance. My kids have been with her for over a year now. She is really all that Gracie knows ... my kids love her and she loves them ... it would break my heart to have to change providers.

Re: Prayers please

Ok, just an idea but
can you post a wanted add on freecycle for the fence? I know I have seen several people getting rid of chain link fencing on our freecycle, and others have posted for it and received it. Another suggestion is to go to lowes and home depot and ask them about the scratch and dent fencing sections...my cat rescue friend was getting panels for $5 a piece. Get some of the dads and moms to pitch in with labor...all you really need is the fencing and some quick-crete and a post hole digger. Can she get away with fencing just part of the yard that contains the play equipment, or does it have to be the whole yard?
If just a few would pitch in for labor the job can go pretty quick.
I'll keep you in my thoughts

Re: Prayers please

my daycare had that exact problem last summer
her deck didn't have a railing on it, and it had to get one. her husband just put up some posts, and you know that green stuff people use for garden fencing? it is hard latice plastic? he put that up in between the posts. it worked for licensing.

does it just have to contain the kids? or hide the kids? if it is contain the kids, there must be some nice cheap solutions out there!

good luck!

Re: Prayers please

i do childcare at home, im not licensed though. here in AZ you have to dedicate your whole house to daycare. as long as its 5 kids and under i dont have to get certified. I hope your babysitter gets what she needs.

Re: Prayers please

I was wondering, too.

If she at least makes an attempt, they will extend it, probably.
