Great news!

The OT doing Kate's one year eval. It looks like she has improved dramatically in all areas. In addition, she said Cara would most likely be out of therapy in a year. One day we will be done with therapy.

If only we could afford speech therapy for Kate! In a couple of years, it would be impossible to tell she has autism. Well, right now we are packed on activities anyway. We are working with the OT on her speech. We don't think the school system would pay for her therapy because she has fine pronounciation, what she says just doesn't make any sense.

Re: Great news!

Jimmy has the same problem and the issue is I can't get speech alone in our public school system. It has to piggy back OT or some other form of therapy. We will see what this school year brings. Most of his sentences are backwards I can certainly understand it but anyone outside of my close family does not.

I didn't realize Kate was autistic, Good for Kate and Cara for making progress!!!

That's great news, Lenora! I'm surprised th hear that the school won't do speech therapy. Our school system does just speech all the time.

Re: Great news!

This school system barely helps the most mentally challenged kids let alone ones with mild conditions. Kate's autism is mild.

Re: Great news!

That's fantastic, Lenora! I love getting those evals where they show improvement. I know since we got Christian help he just shows improvement every year with his best year being this past school year. Which we thinks has to do with getting his tonsils, adenoids, and tubes in his ears. So he can HEAR....yay!
