Have you ever sung a solo in church?

Re: Solo

Nope but my 16 year old SIL does at least once a month. She either sings or plays the piano and she ALWAYS sings on Christmas Eve.

Re: Solo

No, and we can all be thankful for that. I cannot sing, and I am not being modest. Dogs howl when I sing!

Re: Solo

I used to sing solos at church all the time which is really quite amazing seeing how I absolutely LOATH being up in front of people! But I think that once you start singing and the lights are shining upon you (which help to make it so that you can't really see anyone) you get lost in your own little world and everything goes well. I am sure that you will do just fine! Just make sure that the speaker that is in front of you is loud enough to hear the music well otherwise you might get off pitch. And don't be scared to ask to run through it a second or third time at rehearsal on Thursday!

You crack me up Tammy!!!

Krista..Steve will be running sound this Sunday. I told him don't do anything funky to my voice or play with sound effects. I'm definitely going to make sure I can hear the music well. When choir is in session that is one thing that drives everyone in the choir nuts is when the monitor sound is too low. Sometimes it is hard for the sound guys to know how loud it is or what we are hearing so sometimes the music director has to give them kind of signal to turn it up (or if it is too loud to turn it down).

One good thing is I'll be standing off to the side in the instrument section and the 4 girls signing will be up on stage. That should help me some.

Re: Solo

Yes, and it was the scariest thing I've ever done!

Re: Solo

Yes, when I was a child, but it was a very small church and no sound system was involved. Good luck! I'm sure you'll do great!

Re: Solo

I'm in the choir and we sing every week but never a solo --only a special and it was a quartet. Once I'm up there I'm never scared.

What are you singing?

Re: Solo

Nope, I've never sung a solo anywhere. I was never good enough for that.

Cheryl - is there any way someone can video tape your solo? Or get some pics? I would LOVE to see you sing!

Brenda, not sure about who can videotape it. I might be able to get my hubby to record it since he will be working the soundboard and then maybe I can have him post it and I can put the link to it here on BBU. I'll do my best to see if he can do that
