What products/tips would you give new BFing moms?

Personally, I thought that boob balm (Comes in a stick like chapstick) worked better than lanolin. I found it with the natural feeding stuff at Walmart. I got the breast hot/cold packs, but never used them. The breastfeeding cape was not worth the money and I got it on clearance! It is just a poncho. Mine was black and very thin. You got it. Hot in the summer, not warm in the winter. I think a regular poncho would work just as well.

One thing that was very useful when I had clogged ducts was a heating pad.

What products/tips did you find useful when you started breastfeeding?

A friend told me to drink lots of water, and I found that helpful. Breast pads were a good thing, too, and I liked the disposable ones. I loved using a Boppy, especially since I had a c-section.
I could have done without nursing bras. They were okay, but I was able to use a regular bra just as easily. I did like sleeping in nursing bras because they were so comfortable.
I didn't think any of the nursing nightgowns or tops I bought or was given were very good.
I bought a nursing blanket, which I thought was a waste of money. My sister gave me one of those drape things that looks like a giant bib. Didn't like that either. I just used regular receiving blankets to cover myself, or nothing at all, just depending on the situation.
I liked the lanolin, but I never tried the boob stuff you found.

My opinions are similar to the ones already given. Lansinoh is a great product! Boppy is as well (although a few pillows can be used to get the same effect). I didn't find much use for nursing drapes or clothes designed for nursing though.

I didn't BF for long, so I didn't need a whole lot of things. Nursing bras - waste of money IMO. I ended up taking the entire thing off - it was just easier without it in the way. And I just used whatever was handy to cover up with, if needed.

Never liked any nursing clothes except nursing nightgowns. Only used receiving blankets to cover up (when I covered up ;-) Loved Lasinoh natural lanolin and my Boppy. I had the Boppy with the washable cover which was extra nice b/c it got messy and I could just switch covers. I liked disposable nursing pads and only the ones with the sticky pad that held them place. I didn't mind paying a little more for that. I wasn't worried about teaching and having a big wet spot b/c the pad slid out of place. I also loved my glider rocker and the ottoman. We actually had two gliders and ottomans for each floor. Oh, and I really liked the Gerber freezer bags. And the stick Lenora is talking about was good too but I liked the pure lanolin better. I HAD to have my nursing bras.

Man, I miss breast feeding!

I didn't see it around when Kate was a baby. They have a whole new wide range breastfeeding products out there now that were not available when Kate was born. I guess manufacturers finally figured out bfing moms are a market.

I do like my nursing bras. I think a t-shirt is a lot easier to deal with than those nursing clothes. I liked the sticky backed breast pads too. Eventually, I didn't need them anymore and ended up giving a whole huge box away.

Oh yes, and keeping a glass of water handy while breastfeeding was a great idea. For some reason, bfing always makes me thirsty. I put up a little table next to the couch to keep a glass of water, the tv remote and a book when I first started nursing. It is really nice to have some reading materials for those long feeding sprees.
