Do you really think Online dating is Safe?

I know a lot of people that is online dating services and for me I just can not do, do not know why, guess self confidence, unsure.

What do you all think?

Annie, I think you should go for it! My best friend, Kim, met her DH thru eHarmony.com. It took her over 2 years, but they knew within 6 weeks that they were in love and wanted to get married. They got married 9 months after they met for the first time and I've never seen 2 people so perfectly matched. Give it a try - it certainly can't hurt!

Oh Brenda that scares me, but I am so happy for Kim and her DH. Glad they found one another.

That's nice to hear a real success story Brenda. As long as you keep your actives safe I don't see any reason why online dating would be unsafe.

I think it is a lot safer because people aren't as embarrassed by it as they used to be and they tell people what they are doing and who are they are going to meet instead of hiding it. If you do it, just do things in public or things in groups for a while.

There are couples on here that met online and are happily married.

I think if you go through a reputable site like eHarmony it is safe. It's like Janice and Wendy said, you have to keep your activities safe, tell people what you are doing, and meet in public. I think it's worth a try!

I never have tried online dating, but although it's true there are some success stories of couples who have met online, nowadays you are taking a big chance if you yourself do so. And again I've heard couples that have met via the internet and are happily married. Then on the other hand I have seen and read some real horror stories from trying to date people from on line. I guess the moral is if it works it really works. I had come across this opinion poll "Don't look down too much on relationships starting out from Internet - it'll be very common by the time ur kids r dating" and most of the voters agreeing to it, seems on line dating has a way to go.

Although not through an online dating service, I met my current boyfriend online and couldn't be happier. We spent a few months getting to know eachother's personalities and by the time I was ready to meet him in person, I was very comfortable with it. For our first few dates we drove our own cars and met in a public area.

i have at least four co workers that are dating people they met online!

surprised me as we are a small town of under 20 thousand people. they have only good things to say about it.

LOL my husband and I actually met off of Hot or Not years ago... after being together for a year we got married and still are.

Yea I do worry that maybe he might try meeting other women online like he did me, because I have caught him plenty of times but I guess after the 4th time of him being caught and me saying I would leave... made him FINALLY change... uggg

Kim and her DH talked online for a while, then on the phone for a few weeks before they agreed to meet in a public place for the first few times. You just need to be safe about it, just like anything else.
