Where did your parents take you to learn how to drive?

Country roads? Parking lot? Pasture? Where are you taking your kids to practice driving?

I learned how to drive in all those places. Here the driving age is 15 or 16, so we have some time before we have to decide anything about this. We'll have to find an empty parking lot somewhere perhaps at the university during the summer session when no one much is there.

I grew up on a farm so that's where I learned to drive. And my parents never taught me how to drive. I started driving a tractor young and that was learning on the job as no one actually "taught" me how to do it, I just climbed on and was doing it. Then once I was tall enough I was driving the work truck around the farm. So sorta seems like I've always known how to drive.

When it comes to my kids, we live on 8 acres so I'm sure we've got enough open space to teach them when they're old enough to learn.

I learned the basics driving in the HS parking lor during the summer between my sophmore and junior year. Then my boyfriend and dad used to let me drive short distances to the store and stuff. My mom refused to get in a car with me (or any other teen) after trying to teach my older sister to drive!

In Texas, you can get a hardship license at 14 or 15, depending on the circumstances. A learners permit you can get at 16. Regular license at 18.
