What is the legal driving age in your state?

Here it is 15 for a learner's permit, 16 for a license. I see Kansas has upped the learner's permit age to 14.

This site provides information on driving age for all 50 US states:

Driving ages outside Europe:

Canada, not sure if this is right:

I thought I'd spark up this forum a little bit with an issue that strikes terror in all of us, our kids driving our cars.

I'm not sure how it works in my state anymore. It use to be 15 for a permit and 16 for a license. But then they went to a graduated license and I have no idea how it works. Still seems like my niece and nephews have still gotten their permits at 15 and licenses at 16 so I'm not sure what's different about the new system. Somehow I think it works in grades and school attendance.

14 or 15 for a hardship license. 16 for a learners permit. 18 for a license. Or at least it was the last time I looked.

What is hardship license? I do not drive. it would be so useful to us, if one of the girls could one day.

Not quite sure anymore. I know the license is at 16, but I think they have to put in so many hours with their learners permit or to get their learners permit. Not sure how that all works. I'm too old and not at that stage with kids yet.

16 for the learners permit. 16 for the license but you have to have so many hours of documented driving.

we have the graduated program in BC
16 to get your 'L' learners
after having your L for two years you can test for your N and i believe you have to show your N for a couple of years.

takes forever when you are 16

Re: What is the legal driving age in your state?

You have to be 15.5 years old to get your learners permit. You have to drive I believe like 50 hours with a licensed adult, with "X" number of night time hours. Then at 16 you can get your license.
Not sure about any restrictions, although I wish it were only 2 underage passengers at a time. Too manykids get crammed in a car and cause lots of distractions.
