OMAHA, Neb. - Nebraska's new "safe-haven" law allowing parents to abandon unwanted children at hospitals with no questions asked is unique in a significant way: It goes beyond babies and potentially permits the abandonment of anyone under 19.

how sad to think people would even want to abandon their children.

Being a mother, I can't understand how anyone would want to abandon their children either ... I couldn't live without my children. However, I know women who have done it ... not dropped them at a safe haven, but chosen to leave their families.

That law won't last. It will be challenged withint he next few months, I bet. Why did they even bother if they were going to leave it so open?
