Obese Ohio death row inmate asks state for mercy

COLUMBUS, Ohio - A death row inmate who says he's too fat to be executed received poor legal help during his trial and later when he appealed the death sentence, his lawyers said Monday during a clemency hearing.

He's changed alright. It sounds like he's a whole lot fatter than he was 22 years ago. Other than that, it doesn't sound like he's changed a bit. Prison food must be pretty good in Ohio.

I'm afraid my sympathy for this guy is zero. I don't believe in the death penalty because I don't think it's cost effective and this guy is a good reason why. Look at all the appeals he's gotten. And is he paying for all these lawyers who defend him? I seriously doubt it.

He'll probably get another stay and cost the taxpayers of Ohio even more money.

The fact that it's taken over 20 yrs to get rid of this guy in the first place disgusts me ...

He's had 22 yrs to change, and he changed into a fat b@stard, yeah, that really makes me feel sorry for him.

the two woman he killed 22 years ago would also have have changed in that time, they would have changed into well educated woman who finished their degrees, they would have changed into wives, mothers maybe even grandmothers. However they didn't get the chance to change.

He should be exceptionally grateful that he got to sit around doing very little but eat, live off the tax payer and whinge and whine. The free ride is over buddy, and if they can't find your veins or the injection doesn't work as quickly as it should, well bloody tough luck, they will simply have to do it again until the get it right.

Sorry - you need to die fat guy! Send him to Texas - Our average inmate spends less than 2 years on death row. We have no tolerance for scum.

Why should he be shown ANY mercy? He never showed any to his victims.
