We have all hardwood in our house except in the bathrooms where we have tile. I have bad allergies so when we built that's what we requested. We have wood in the kitchen.
I have white tile floors in every room but the bedrooms. They are impossible to keep clean when you have dogs. LOL! If you want them to loo nice, you have to sweep and mop EVERY day (whcih I don't). I sweep a couple of times a week, but only mop them once or twice a month, except for spot cleaning. 10 minutes later they have dog hair on them. *sigh*
I sweep and mop everyday anyway, so no prob for me. When we lived in a place with hardwood floors, I swept and mopped the whole house everyday. I am a bit of a freak for really clean floors.
I like hardwood but I'd prefer carpet in the bedrooms. I'm a swiffering freak ... when I worked for and lived in a home with hardwoods, I would do it multiple times a day.
We have hardwood now in the living room and linoleum in the kitchen and bathroom. I"m loving my hardwood and prefer it, we may try and do the whole house one day.
I have all 3 floors types. The most maintenance is carpet. Second is tile grout and the least is hardwood. I would do hardwood in high traffic and carpet where we hangout the most. It's warmer in the winter months and easier on the feet and little bodies whom like to be on the floor.
In Florida I'd say tile works best but I do like carpet in the bedrooms. Hardwood is pretty but tile feels so nice and cool on your hot sun-baked tootsies. We have tile in all the rooms except the three bedrooms and wood style linoleum in the "play/dance room." It looks like wood but doesn't feel or smell like it.
