Other than ears, would you take your tween/teen to get a piercing?

I am really not fond of the whole total body piercing thing. I am kind of conservative that way. But you pick your battles, so I guess it would depend on where and what they wanted pierced. and privates - no way. Belly, eyebrow, nose, well, I'll just have to see when the time comes.

BTW, I am including boys in this too. Would you take your daughter or your son to get a piercing outside ears?

At this point in time, I'd have to say no.

it's a possibility that i would take them... depending on where and if i thought that they earned it

Re: Other than ears, would you take your tween/teen to get a piercing?

I would. All of my kids have their ears pierced already (they boys were 4yrs old when they got theirs pierced). For me it depends on where they want pierced. Nothing on the face cuz I am thinking that most jobs don't allow that but I wouldn't be against nose piercing otherwise. Plus, some facial piercings tend to leave scars. Tongue, belly etc would be fine with me. They are just holes. They close up.

Re: Other than ears, would you take your tween/teen to get a piercing?

I'd have to say no. My mom wouldn't even let me do a second ear piercing when I wanted. She said I could pierce whatever I wanted when I was 18. I will do the same with my girls (they all have ears pierced)

No, I don't think so, and I am pretty sure I would not even let Travis pierce his ears.

Ears, belly and tongue - I don't really have a problem. No facial piercings, tho. Don't like them and Krista is right when she says alot of jobs won't allow them.

Re: Other than ears, would you take your tween/teen to get a piercing?

Matt is completely against boys having their ears pierced (its how he grew up), but I don't care (just not too young)

Although I have a few piercings, with more to come hopefully, I'm not one that would get my little girls ears pierced when she was in infant. My thought on that is, if she wants holes in her ears, she can tell me and we can get it done.

Anything other than ears WILL wait until they are 18.
I had to wait until I was 18 (for my tattoo too!) and will my children. Sadly I didn't get anything done until I was 26! LOL (except my tattoo i got at 18)

No, I have boys and I would't allow it.

I lost a farely good employee who decided to go get her lip pierced once she turned 18.

Re: Other than ears, would you take your tween/teen to get a piercing?

I think it would depend on the cirumstances for me ... what do they want done? how old are they exactly? have they shown enough maturity to make a decision like that?
My one issue is with belly rings ... why get it pierced if you don't intend to show it off? I'm not sure I want my teenage girl walking around like that.
Both my girls had their ears pierced as infants and Haley got a second set of holes when she was 4.

I'd have to say no. I'm trying to instill the "earrings, etc make boys look feminine" thing now so maybe it will stick.

Pam, I did that with Drew, too. But believe me that if all his friends strt getting their ears pierced, he will think about it. Drew eventually decided the didn't want his ears pierced after seeing Ally get hers done. Said it looked painful. I just smiled and left it at that.

Yeah, let him watch it being done. Good one. I'll try to remember that in 8-10 years when it will be an issue.

I would let Brittany get her belly button pierced because I think it is really cute and she has a belly for it.* No facial piercings for either of them.* My son I hope will not get a ear ring, but dad has one and still wears it so that is who knows.*

Re: Other than ears, would you take your tween/teen to get a piercing?

Drew and I had a conversation about this over the weekend. He asked me how I felt about is friend Justin's piercings. I said what piercings? Apparently he pierced is tongue, but I never even noticed it the entire time he was here and I was talking to him. But I still told Drew I didn't think it was a good idea. Said when he was 18 he could pierce anything he wanted to. Anything, he said? As long as I can't see it, I said!

Re: Other than ears, would you take your tween/teen to get a piercing?

I can't say much. Depends on the circumstances to me.

I have no issues with a guy having an earring... and seeing as I have 13 piercings (including my belly button which I have kept all 36 an 1/2 weeks of my pregnancy now). Thy save up the money and show me they have the responsibility to care for it, we can talk. (I have been hired a number of places with a nose piercing. Then again, I got it done for a very specific reason)

Re: Other than ears, would you take your tween/teen to get a piercing?

yea i would. my philosophy is, they're going to get it anyway, so might as well be there when it happens. i wouldn't approve of piercings anywhere in the face though, too much, and tongue is too dangerous. ears and belly are ok for me

Re: Other than ears, would you take your tween/teen to get a piercing?

Nothing else...lol. Seriously once they are 18, they can do it. We haven't gotten Kel's ears pierced. She is afraid of needles and doesn't want it done. I won't force her. It is her body and if she doesn't want it done, then it won't be done until/unless she wants her ears pierced!

Re: Other than ears, would you take your tween/teen to get a piercing?

I would say that I would go. For some reason I am very fasinated with piercings. At one time I had an industrial, small ear gages, and my ears pierced three times each, but then I grew up, got a respectable job, and lost them all lol.

That's a great idea. If that time comes, I'll take him into a piercing place and have him watch. He is totally grossed out about blood and anything medical.

I would have serious concerns about tongue piercing as I understand it is very damaging to the teeth. Here is some good information to share with your child, before they have their tongue pierced: Hazards Of Tongue Piercing

Re: Other than ears, would you take your tween/teen to get a piercing?

I did some serious damage to my teeth with a tongue piercing ... bit down on the ball and completely cracked a molar in half.

Haley (who is 13) now has her ears (double), belly button, and lip pierced. She had a septum piercing (which I did not take her to do but thought was very cute) but took it out after being teased a few too many times.

If I had boys I would let them get their ears pierced and whatever they wanted done as long as they were in high school. As for my girl, she's 2 with her ears pierced (done at 3 months) and when she's in high school I'll allow any piercings as well.

I'm fully open to body art and piercings, seeing as I have tattoos and piercings. The tattoo thing will probably have to wait until 18, only because it is a lifetime decision.
