I have taken Luffeel before I was pregnant as I needed it. It's a homeopathic nose spray and very effective. Any one know of any articles that I could reference to see if it's safe during pregnancy? I'm going to call my pharmacist also.

Re: Nasal spray and pregnancy
I checked with my midwife and she told me to check with the pharmacist. The pharmacist didn't know of any studies pro or con. But if my allergies get bad again, I'll have to take something. I can't miss work everytime my allergies flare up.

Re: Nasal spray and pregnancy
Hope your allergies aren't too bad. According to a book I have, Your Pregnancy Week by Week by Dr. Glade B. Curtis OB/GYN & Judith Schuler, M.S., allergies can actually get worse during pregnancy and that many allergy medications (including nasal sprays) are NOT safe to take while prego. This book says that antihistamines & decongestants are OK to use. "Decongestants that contain oxymetazoline, such as Afrin, may be reccomended. Allergy - blocking nasal sprays that contain cromolyn sodium, such as Nasalcrom, are also safe to use. " This book also recommends wearing a mask when you vacuum & using a humidifier if you live in a dry climate.Best of luck to you... If you don't already have it - I love that book! I think most book stores carry it too.

Re: Nasal spray and pregnancy
Pregnancy rhinitis is a common condition with longstanding nasal congestion; troublesome for the mother, possibly also affecting the fetus. There is need for a safe, effective treatment. Nasal corticosteroids, indisputable in other types of rhinitis, have not been evaluated in pregnancy rhinitis. In this placebo-controlled, randomized, double-blind study with parallel groups, we evaluated the effect of 8 weeks of treatment with fluticasone propionate aqueous nasal spray in 53 women with pregnancy rhinitis. Daily symptom scores and nasal peak expiratory flow, as well as acoustic rhinometry before and after treatment, did not show any difference between the groups. Placebo resulted in 6/27 responders, compared with 5/26 for active treatment. There was no detectable influence on maternal cortisol as measured by morning S-cortisol and overnight 12-h-U-cortisol, or any difference in ultrasound measures of fetal growth or pregnancy outcome. Altogether, our study indicates no significant effects of the treatment described here.

Re: Nasal spray and pregnancy
It is quite possible that your nasal congestion is not just from hay fever. Nose problems can occur because of your pregnancy too. About beconase, I can tell you only one thing: no drug (orally taken injections or spray) is safe during pregnancy, unless your personal OP tell you differently. So, if you want to take beconase nasal spray for nose congestion you must ask an expert for opinion. It is important to note that Miacalcin nasal spray is not approved for women who are premenopausal, including pregnant women.while taking Miacalcin nasal spray, let your healthcare provider know.
