Update on my mom and my test results

My mom is home recovering well. She's bored already and wants to drive. She will see the doctor on the 17th and will be released then. She's having bouts of depression. I understand her whole life has changed. She can no longer do what she loved doing which was watching the kids and running around all day. Hopefully she can have a full recovery and within the year be back to normal as normal as you can be after a brain anuerysm.

So it was suggested that I be screened by a neurologist. 12 tubes of blood, MRI, EEG, BAER Test, Carotid arteries. Blood work: kidney and liver function is ok. All clear on the rest of the testing except: I have a nodule on my left thyroid and I'm being referred to a specialist. If anyone has knowledge in this area please let me know, thanks.

I'm glad she is doing so well. Hopefully, she will make a full recovery. I think depression is normal in her situation.

Thyroid nodules are quite common, I understand. I had one, and the endocrinologist did a fine needle biopsy on it (where they stick an extremely thin needle into it, and pull out some of it), and it wasn't too horrible. The test came back "inconclusive", so they continue to watch the nodule to see if it re-grows (it's been almost a year with no change, though).

He told me that usually such nodules are benign, so you probably have nothing to worry about. Keep us posted, though!

for you and your Mom. I wish her the best recovery possible. I am so glad you went through with all of the tests and all is well. Just work with the Endo on the nodule thing.... they are usually benign, but keeping tabs on it will make sure that if anything changes you can resolve it asap without many issues. Take care!

I am so glad to hear how well your mom is doing! Depression after something like this is common. She is going to have to change how she does things and that's never easy. But it sounds like she will do fine with you there to help here.

Also glad to hear you went thru with the testing. They have been watching my throid for years (it's enlarged) but nothing ever changes. Still, best to keep an eye on it, just in case!
