SAN ANTONIO (Reuters) - San Antonio unveiled a deal on Tuesday that will make it the first U.S. city to harvest methane gas from human waste on a commercial scale and turn it into clean-burning fuel.

Good idea! There is an endless supply of this product! In all seriousness, this is a good answer to the energy crisis in so many ways. It solves two problems at once. Hopefully, it will make energy prices go down in SA.

Re: City plans to convert human waste to energy

Keep in mind, I am an environmentalist. One of the problems with the environmental movement is their solutions are not always practical. Not everyone can or wants to put a solar collector on their home or install some kind of clean power generator in the backyard. But this idea is so practical. I hope it really works. There is an endless supply of this crap. Every city and town has the potential to be a methane producer. Animal waste could also be converted ending the odor problem of feedlots and poultry farms.

I have thought for awhile instead of encouraging home owners to put solar collectors on their houses, convince Walmart and the other major retailers. They have those huge flat rooves. Plus they can afford the staff to maitenence the equipment.

I don't think this whole clean power thing needs to be hard. I think some people are just making it hard so they can make a lot of money.

Please, please, please tell me this was an intentional pun! LOL!

Seriously, I have read about a few smaller towns that have done this, but only to power specific things. I read about a company that does it to power it's own factory (I think it is Johnson & Johnson). This really is a good idea. I'm not an enviro nazi (pet name) by any means, but I don't see why more people/places don't do things like this? It makes sense for the enviroment, for your finances and just in general.

We need to ask some of our SA girls what they have heard about this.

I worked long and hard to come up with that crappy pun. I am glad you enjoyed it.
