Americans query CEO pay scales as crisis deepens

PHOENIX (Reuters) - Arizona design teacher Marsha Minniss believes the culture of paying sky-high salaries to U.S. executives is "insane."

Before it was just company funds paying for these executive mega bonuses for doing a bad job, now it's the taxpayer. What do they expect? Why should Americans want to pay their hard earned (and probably not in a swanky Manhattan office) tax dollars to pay off these guys for doing a horrible job?

Re: Americans query CEO pay scales as crisis deepens

I think if a company is financially and legally sound, and a CEO or any other top executive can earn a huge salary (and the company can pay it), more power to them.
If the company is not financially sound, then no, no one should be earning a huge salary. Obviously, if it's not legally sound, the same applies.
And no, absolutely NOT, taxpayers should not be paying them their huge salaries for any reason.

The new bailout plan that the House is getting ready to discuss (again) WILL NOT pay the severance package to the execs who ran the company(s) into the ground. But you are still looking at their bonuses and regular salary that WILL be paid.

Personally, I don't think we (the taxpayers) should pay for a bailout.
