December baby!!

Anyone have any ideas for a birthday party in december? My son turns 1 on the 15th of December and I am unsure what theme it will be let alone where it will be at. I live in California so weather won't be much of an issue, but I am concerned about his b-day being lumped in with all the other holidays and not being celebrated the way I would like it to.

How can I avoid this? What theme would be good since it's December? please let me know what you guys think!!!

I would use any theme that is good for any other time of the year. My dd's birthday is Jan. 4. We rush to take down all the Christmas decorations so her birthday is completely seperate from Christmas. I think she'll have a pink birthday this year since it is her favorite color. I don't know what he likes, but my oldest really loves Thomas the Tank Engine. A train birthday is a lot of fun. I think several of us have thrown Thomas birthday parties.

I would just go with whatever he likes. At 1, he really won't know the difference. It will be more for you then him. Just make sure you do the traditional "baby" cake so he can dig in and make a mess!

My daughter was in a playgroup with a little girl who had a December birthday. For her first birthday, they did a winter theme with snowmen and snowflakes and things like that. It's been five years now, so it's hard to remember all they did, but it was really cute.
I also agree you could go with whatever he likes.
My birthday is December 14, and I understand your concern about keeping his birthday separate from the holidays. My parents always did a great job of that for me, and since it's important to you, you'll be able to do it. If someone tries to lump it all together, just kindly explain to them that it's his birthday and just because his birthday is in December it doesn't mean it's okay to lump his birthday in with the other holidays.

My kids always had the traditional "1" year old themed birthday parties ... but I think the winter theme sounds really cute.
You definitely have to do the separate baby cake!
